Title: Not sure locking the threads works...

Because I always read the locked threads first for the really juicy stuff, then work my way to the legitimate stuff.  :D

Locking works great and i think its the method of choice.

- within 3 days the locked thread drops on page 3 and no one reads it anymore

- everyone can still read it so no one gets muted and you still see what was locked, a kind of "friendly censoring" where you are sure every opinion can still be seen

- if it doesnt do the trick because the person starts thousands of threads you can still ban him

I am always surprised by the amount of useless and insulting posts... back in the old days when buletin boards where high tech and people had to download them with a slow modem to read there was far less abuse and more thinking on each post. think it was called netiquete or so?

Indeed! I do the same! It's like banning a book. People go out of their way to read it. :lol

I know what you are saying here, that they drop out of sight, but to be honest with me here... when you log in and look at everything that is new on the board, do you click on an active thread first over a locked one if you see one on the board?  =)
