There was a comment made by a certain member of this community in another thread that is now locked. This comment disturbs me and I wonder if that is really how this person thinks and how many others share the same sentiments. This person posted, "There will always be terrorism in the world." In the context that it was posted it seems to me that this individual is in fact resigned to the fact that there is nothing we can do about terrorists and terrorism so we should just give up and let them do what they want. That is the part that disturbs me.
Its my thinking that this type of belief and resignation is part of the reason why the world is in the situation it is in today. And I am not just talking about the situation in Iraq. Imagine where we would be if everybody took the same apathetic stance. The day we stop fighting against these people who are determined to see the western way of life exterminated is the day that we cease to be a free nation. I know that may sound corny but to give in to these tactics subjects us to their whims and makes us nothing but a puppet to the terrorists. Giving in simply because "there will always be terrorism in the world" is not an option IMO.

It's not apathetic, it's fact. Terrorism is guerilla, just like vietnamese had to adapt to american military superiority.
There's mass globalization, and those few that are against it, burning gene crops, demolishing McDonalds, colaborating with Greenpeace to sabotage multinationals' assets.
Global growth and saturation go hand in hand with denser and denser opposition neucleii. Which way each nucleus chooses to oppose themselves is another matter.

Say... why was my post edited to "Wrong" anyway?
