Is there a similar drafting type program that is free?  I have some little projects I want to do around the house and I want to draw them out first and I dont want to do it by hand.

Demaw,
Do you work in the architecture field.

Sling,
There are plenty of home edition design programs, and there are also older versions of AutoCAD then you can get fairly inexpensivly. There is also a program called DataCAD, its virtually obsolete in the profession but would be a decent program to use.
What are the projects you are doing if you dont mind me asking.

I am a builder, always redoing arch.plans.  Just rearanged cj. so roof would work on a custom I am building. Yes you could say so as I drew 4 unit plans , a couple customs and some additions.

Only lic. as a general contractor tho.

Dont mean to say anything about arch. at all . Just most have no experience in the field.

Demaw,
I wasnt trying to sound like I was questioning your knowledge I was just curious if you worked in the field, partly because your price quote was pretty low for architecture. Genearlly an architecit will charge between 70-90 dollars an hour for thier services and if they use a drafter they will charge 55-65 dollars an hour.  I work for an architecture firm and was wondering if you did the same.

P.S.- I consider any week that I dont have to talk to one of your general contractor a good week haha.

I have about 60 students doing this kind of stuff.  If anybody needs drawings done, send me sketches and they will finish them as projects.  :)

Funny, we consider any week where we have to talk to an architect a bad week.

Simple stuff like building a workbench in the garage for R/C modelling and brewing.  I am also building a shelf and storage rack for all my brewing supplies.  Its simple and I could sketch it all out on paper but I thought I could get the computer to do it for me.
