So I'm looking at a bit of flightsim history on my parts shelf, and I'm thinking.
I have 2 old analog thrustmaster "FCS" (later renamed top gun) joysticks, 4 button with 4-way hats, and a WCS II programmable throttle. I even have the software that comes with the throttle. If I look a bit, I think I can even find the stick rebuild kit that Buzz Hoffman at thrustmaster sent me about a year before he passed away.
It's been taking up shelf space for about 4 years now and I'll never use it again, but I don't want to just throw it away. I'd prefer to give it away to someone who would use it, but since it requires an analog joystick connector an an old AT-style keyboard plug (a PS2-AT converter would probably work) and the programming software is dos based, nobody but an enthusiast would or could ever use it. So it sits on the shelf and I'm getting closer to putting it in the trash.
Which brings me to the 2 points of this post - First, I'll send the 2 sticks, the throttle, a CD with the software, and any parts I can find to anyone who will pay for shipping via us postal service. Anyone who will take this off my hands gets a bit of flightsim history as this stick/throttle combo sparked a huge leap in programmable gaming input devices yet it remains a model in efficient design that is often lost in the more glitzy sticks on the market today.
Second, I'd like to ask HTC to create a for-sale forum so I can put a request like this into the type of forum where it belongs. I doubt every reader of this BBS wants to read for-sale posts and the community has been very good at keeping such posts out of the main forum, but I don't think it would compromise the professional integrity of HTC to host a moderated for-sale forum where players could try to find homes for their surplus gear. Hopefully it wouldn't take too much moderation to keep unscrupulous companies from posting spam there, and it might be a way for sponsors to publish specials.
In any case, that's what I got - a nice, functional, but old programmable stick/throttle setup I want to get rid of but would rather not just put in the trash, and a request for a for-sale forum. Please be kind if you must tell me to STFU.
