Did you shut down the "themes" service in XP's services list?

Warning:  It is a pig.

IIRC, 98 did not have a built-in theme manager.  Do you have Plus installed? If not, I've got a nice little freeware program called Desktop Architect that manages themes nicely. You can download it here (http://www.netaces.org/genscrnsvr/screensaver.html#title). Hope this helps.

go to control panel/ add remove programs/windows set up

check the desktop themes box

then toss the 98se cd in .

this gives you all the themes that came with 98se

or you can download others to add .
