Going hunting eh bud?
-
Na, just gona hang it on the wall for decorations. Maybe some target shooting in the back yard, old beer cans etc...
:D
-
I shoot mine atleast once a month!
-
Sweet! Garand ?
-
That would be an M1a. But in my opinion, it's a travesty to have a gun that has no wood on it. The wood gives the gun it's soul...
-
Great choice, the Springfield M1A.
It's next on my list, planning for spring purchase. Gonna go with the NM version and walnut stock, and am leaning towards Krieger barrel, but haven't decided on that one for sure yet.

Yeah, it's the next gun on our list too. We'll be going with the standard, no reason to make it more complicated then just a gun for fun.
Too bad we don't have any money.
-
It's not a cheap gun for sure, but a great shooter. First, I promised the wife to recarpet the upper level of the house, and new furniture to put on top of that. Just replaced my central a/c, lawnmower, and the washer and dryer. Life has been spendy lately, but the rifle is in sight. :D

that's an M1A?????? sorry I thaught it was an M14 actually.
Is that semi Auto?
-
M1a is the civillian version (no full auto) of the military M14. Yes, it's semi-only.
There may be other minor differences too.
-
Also, without a major workover, M14 full auto parts can't just be dropped into an M1a. That was one of the things that had to be done when making the m1a.
-
I have no need to run it in full auto. I just plan to target shoot with it and learn about owning a rifle and later do some mods to it. I've got a 200 yard range that I can go to to shoot and larger ranges that a a couple of hours away but it will be a while till I get there. Dont think that clip is legal in california so I might have to get the legal version of the clip. How many it loads and how quickly is irrelevant since my goal is to learn accuracy. I like the M1a because its a derivative of the M-14 and the M-14 was a great rifle. And I want to own my own rifle instead of renting or shooting someone elses rifle.
-
Nice. If I were to own a gun that M1A, w/maple stock, would be my choice too. Congrats and enjoy!
-
Excellent taste! Congrats. I'll be picking up my new toys tonight..pics to follow! :)

No, no. I was just saying that the difference between an M1a and an M14 is that the M1a cannot readily exchange parts with an M14. It was made this way. Just explaining the difference for those who don't know.
