Now this is shaping up to be amusing:
Saddam Hussein may be going to run for president in the Iraqi elections, according to his lawyer.

As he's not likely to be tried before January 2005, there's no "convicted criminal" impediment. And as there's a new constitution, he's not restricted by previous time as president.

This means we could have a war every year.

Saddam wins election before trial.

We go back to "liberate" the Iraqis.

Saddam wins election again before trial.

etc etc.

Saddam doesn't need to run for President. As far as he is concerned he still is president.  What is needed is that his cronies do not destabilise the country so much that they take power and put him in charge again.

let him run after his trial... like that syraian.... I bet he would be a good boy now... although.... he probly won't survive the sentance after the trial.
