An ignore list is a sign of intolerance and inability to cope with others. Clear evidence of poorly developed social skills and a tendency towards homosexuality.

Wow Skuzz, that sounds AWEFUL  :(  I hadn't really thought of what kind of fortitude it would take to be asked to read all of this.  You might even have grown to hate people you've never even met.

I'd like to step up and offer to help.  If you'd like to take a break and ignore some of the more unsavory posters on this board, I'll gladly moderate them for you.  (I'll even keep track of myself.  scout's honor :D )

Whaddya say?

Never understood the ignore list thing - it seems to me rather like choosing to sit in the smoking section and then complaining about all the smokers there.

If you only want to listen to certain people, and can be offended by people with different views to the point of having to not look at what they say ever again, I reckon the internet really isn't the best place for you: you should be out talking with some nice, safe, like-minded, pre-approved friends in real life.

Skuzzy only works here, but he obviously gets paid enough to do it — otherwise he wouldn't. Unless he's under the impression that the word "intern" is some sort of abbreviation for internet connection.

"Need an intern to help take a load off of the BBS, Skuzzy?"
"Nope. The exisiting system can handle it."
"You're sure?"
"Yeah"
"OK... I guess."
"Damn, he keeps asking me that. What an idiot. Why doesn't he offer me someone to help read through all this crap instead..."

Actually, I am a non-smoker, and if there was a way I could put smokers on "ignore" and not smell or inhale the cigarette smoke, then I guess I wouldn't mind sitting in the smoking section.  Not sure what that has to do with ignoring folks on a BBS though.

I ignore people who present themselves as idiots and who don't add any entertainment value.  I've never been accused of being overly sensitive, but since you say so, maybe it's time I unplug my computer.

Ignore lists are a good thing and a personal choice.  As they are a personal choice, you get to make your own rules.

My rule is this: 18 to 80. Blind, crippled or crazy.

I know I will regret this...

Don't you think 'breathing' would be a good rule to add in there Wulfe? :D

Breathing and legs are bonus.

Actually if you think about it Legs are not really a bonus, they usually just get in the way and when the *****ing starts you can just go to another room to get away without being followed.

HAHA if it were three legs you would have to use a table or a stool to balance everything out.

Well BBSs are populated by people with different and abrasive opinions many would style as "offensive" much like smoking sections are populated by smokers - it's an inextricable package deal. Ignore them is missing out on the full BBS experience.

Well, it's entirely your choice: maybe it is time you went for that beach walk, maybe not. ;) I like my BBS idiots and all: it's all entertaining to me, but there again, I'm an out-patient at the Centre for the Easily Amused.

Why bother having ignore lists in the first place? I can read something and ignore anyone, I don't need to try and block it out.

I tried to have someone on the ignore list once a couple of years ago. The problem was that i got to curious about what he was posting so i always found myself peaking anyway.

i only "peek" when someone i agree with slams the ignored person, so i can see what all the fuss is about.

but generally someone quotes them, and it really defeats the ignore anyway
