Heard its bugged to all hell when playing online. True? CTD's ect?
-
We have had no problems . alot of people trying to host with slow systems. They recommend 2.5 or bigger with 3 we haveing no problems.so far
-
You got chewbacca in your sites. NOooooooooo........!!!!!!!! PETA will be angry.
-
Is it just a FPS or can you fly and drive vehc's with total control?
Whats up with that star crusier so low in orbit?
-
you can fly drive walk every thing. except jedi's my 7 yearold plays it more than I do. We make him read 2 books a day to get 30 mins playing time in starwars. works great
-
I'm thinking the Star Destroyer can land. There were large cruisers (reminiscent of the Star Destroyer) in Attack of the Clones that were taking off from large landing bays, so it's possible the SD can be used for close planetary assault.

Rod, is that the PC format version?
I was thinking of buying it for the Xbox... will wait and see! :)
-
I wouldn't Nexx.... you'll buy it for the Xbox.. people will play it for a month. In a month, Halo 2 comes out. You'll be the only one playing SW:BF, unless you drop it too and go play Halo 2. So just save your money.
That is what I'm doing anyway.

Not a great onling sim game but not bad either, Now if it was 1000's or like AH that could be fun. Now I just go play sniper when i play fun to piss of guys like ah guys being vulched..........

In all honesty I rarely play any games as it is. I bought a Xbox a few years ago and barely play anything on it mostly because I was always on AH. However, since I haven't played AH for awhile I'm looking for something else to keep me occupied for an hour or two. I like the idea of SW: BF because you can get to be Stormtroopers and get to kill Ewoks!! :) Surely that in itself is one reason for buying! :D

I own the game too (I know, surprised?)...its a let down if you are hoping for a Novaworld Joint Ops/Delat Force kind of game. This is a compromise-game...one that is cross platform for the consoles, so the graphics arent all that "Wow, gee whiz".
I havent tried the online play yet. So far, the great promise of flying TIE fighters and Xwings hasnt happened....apparently I havent moved along far enough into the campaign to have those "great battles" replayed. I was hoping to x-wing myself around a trench and pop a DeathStar...cant do that, apparently?
Im sure the game sells a lot. But if you are looking for more PC-based stuff that looks great, check into the new add-on to Star Wars Galaxies.
Me...I'm still hoping they re-do X-Wing vs TIE fighter kinda thing...or at least a shooter like Joint Ops and huge online play.

Since when in the hell can a Star Destroyer fly in the atmosphere?
-
Wolfala, check out the end of Attack of the Clones. Those ships (shown taking off from cradles on the ground) are obvious forerunners to the SD.

Once they release the patch that fixes vehicle control, you'll the the numbers rise. Other than that, Battlefront is a blast to play. I enjoy it a lot more than BF:42 or BF:V but then I am a nerd and love anything Star Wars. Just wish they'd hurry up and fix the vehicle control so I can run over Ewoks in an AT-ST.

Is that bug purely on the PC version? Does it effect the Xbox version too?
-
After testing that addon to star wars galaxies, I cancelled my 2 star wars accounts. It was that bad. I was expecting xwing vs tie also, and its not. AI dumb as dirt, having to go from space to planet after each mission and super slow "twitch" play. Just awful.

Just rented it for xbox this morning. Im not a big fan of Star Wars, biut it was a pretty impressive game. Beat the entire game on hard in under a few hours, sad.

[NERDMODE] The Victory I (not yet seen in a movie) was the last star destroyer able to go into an atmosphere. Victory II's, along with the entire Imperial class (the ones from the original movies) have no repulsorlifts and can't go into an atmosphere. [/NERDMODE]

The single player mode is pretty much just there so you can practice before you go online and play, so of course the limited single player campaign will be easy to finish.

Don't know if the Xbox version has the same troubles with the vehicle control. I don't think the problem is so much as a result of a bug but more from poor design.

can you be an ewok with a bow?

no ewoks are only in the single player, and you cant play as them :( . I havent reached that lvl yet because i droped SW:BF to play Rome.
some of the battles are awsome in this game, best part for me is the visuals of the game. When you see your team upahead and you see lasers flying all around them........i might have to go play another round!
I like playing as the droids.

Someone call Lucas and tell him he ****ed up! Tarmac SAYS SO!

AT-ATs are fun.
-
OK here's what I can't stand. Playing in single player mode following the "storyline" I start out in the droid army and by the end of the campaign I'm no longer a storm trooper and such and now fighting on the other side.
The game play is pretty cool though.

Wouldn't the air friction generated be destructive?
-
The friction is only destructive if you enter the atmosphere too fast. The reason current spacecraft need heat shields is because they have no way to drop 15,000 mph worth of velocity before they touch air because of limited fuel. Presumably, the ships of star wars can slow down as much as they want, they seem to have all the delta-v they need for maneuvering. An SD could theoretically slow to a hundred miles per hour and come down to land at its leisure if it had repulsorlifts or big wings to keep it flying. But, since that model apparently doesn't, there's an apparent discrepency. If that ship is in orbit, it shouldn't look that big. If it's in the atmosphere, it should either be falling or somehow using the wedge shape as a lifting surface, but since it's supposedly not designed for atmospheric flight, that would seem difficult.
(who am I kidding, I have no way of turning off nerdmode. )

Perhaps their atmosphere is thinner.... or someone is using the force on the SD to bring it down! :)

What does 'font' mean in this context? Cannot? Or can?
-
Mistype sorry, adware popup had more of my attention. SDs CANNOT be used at all in xbox version. All they seem to do it hover in the distance.
