I can't shoot the turret MG in tanks. NO, not the pintle guns, not the hull gun. The "coaxial" gun, I've heard it called.
No joystick button I hit can make it fire
Nor can any keyboard key that is mapped to primary/secondary fire.
What gives?!?!? I can SEE the gun there on external, but it won't fire!
Help? Suggestions?

'alt x' used to fire the coaxial gun and it would fire until you switched out of the 'main gun' position. That was in AH one, haven't tried in AHII.
-
are you talking about the "main" gun? I.E. Tiger/Panzer has three guns. pintle, hull, and main. Each can be jumped to by pressing 2-4
Once in, just hit your normal button to fire guns.
I'm not sure I understand your question.

Check to make sure you have the hull machine gun mapped to a button or a key. I had the same problem which I fixed by mapping the hull MG to button #2 on my stick.

No. He wants to fire a machinegun from the main turret view.

Krusty... been in this game a while and only figured it out myself the other day. You need to map a button for secondary fire in the gunner section of key/joystick mapping. Now the mg can fire when you're looking through the "long tube".
Edit:
v useful for killing those drunks

wait.... you mean I can be looking out my Main gun, the super zoom'able one, and fire my hull mg's???
No Way!! gonna go try that now. NEAT!

It's NOT your hull MG. There is a 50 cal MG that is coaxial with the main gun. You shoot it from the #2 position. Have you ever noticed the number of rounds you have in the upper left, that is the coaxial MG.
That being said, it's ok for killing drunks, but that's about it. If you lose your turret, you also lose the coaxial MG. And it has a narrow field of view just like the main gun. If you are out of main gun ammo it can knock down that last building or two.
There are other old threads on this here in the Help section.
To make it work you have to map a key or JS button for it. I haven't even bothered since AHII came out, thanks for the reminder.

the default button to fire it (if you have not remapped any keys) is x
it is "fire position" under the gunner keys.
