Title: USAF the Game Big problem...
Post by: lasersailor184 on October 04, 2004, 11:16:32 AM
Ok, so I decided I want to play this game again.  I installed it on my XP machine and quickly found out that it does not like XP at all.

So I've been reading around and I've seen that the game (USAF) is written in C, but this doesn't like XP.  I can't run the game in any different windows modes and I don't want to run a dual boot.

Is there anyway to get around this at all?

Think you got your information from an idiot.

Just saying.

Windows XP does C just fine, it depends what the program was written to run in first.

USAF was designed for W95/98 - DOS based kernel.

Windows XP is based off the NT kernel, not DOS.

This means the command prompt isn't real DOS, it's just a Command Line Interface that resembles DOS.

In other words, a dual boot with Windows 98 is the solution.

BUT, you can't install Windows 98 after Windows XP is installed... they need to be installed in order of oldest to newest to work properly in a dual boot environment.

He can still setup a dual boot, but he is going to need Partition/Boot Magic to do it.

Yeah, my point being was that I didn't want to do that.  Was there anyother thing I could do?
