Title: Fuel burn rate vs ENY idea
Post by: AKFokerFoder+ on October 05, 2004, 01:53:00 PM
I was thinking last night that maybe if we reduced the fuel burn rate on the lower ENY planes, it may encourage some to fly them.

Say a 205 with a ENY of 40 would have a fuel burn rate of 1.25 or so. This would give the 205 great legs, and deserving of another look.

Say

LA7  fuel burn rate of 2
LA5 fuel burn rate of 1.5

A fuel burn rate of about 1.5 would also make the Yak more attractive.

Perhaps a way to add more diversity to the arena mix without adding the penalty of perks?

The numbers need massaging, but I think the concept has some merit.

Errr, Im not sure if that makes sense...

There is only one fuel burn rate per "world"

My question is why would the fuel burn rate be different for the same engines?

Speacking of YAKs, have you seen any lattely?  Think I saw one the other day but I am not sure.

No

No, flight modeling and unit modeling should be as consistant as possible.

My point exactly, I think lack of fuel keeps this fine plane way to low in numbers.

Lack of ammo may be the other reason, but I am not suggesting any change in ammo load.

And anyways this is just a idea to kick around :)

You are kidding, right? I`ve seen way , way too many lately.
Does the Yak have a reverse magnetism device that always, no matter where you are, is at least 3 to 4 K higher than your plane?

AH2 is a "Simulation" right?

That's what i've been hearing but I could be wrong...

According to many dictionaries, a simulation includes (in general) a recreation of a situation.

Even if it was a game, would we give the TBM a load out of 5 thousand pounds just because no one flies it?

I think the fuel burn rate of 2 was put in to limit the usage/effectivness of the LA7.

It certainly limits the Yak and 205 also.

I doubt if a burn rate of 1.5 would give us an arena with droves of 205s, Yaks and LA5's.  But certainly it might increase their numbers, and therefore the diversity of planes you see.

As for being a simulation. Well yes it is. But an arena where a PonyD has a Dora flying wing is hardly realistic.  I mean we have Pony's shooting Corsairs off a Zeke's six.  What are we simulating in the MA???  Certainly not historic WW2 scenario's, go to the CT for that. We have a pretty good main arena, just trying to see if there are other options for game-play.

Theres no need to limit the fuel burn rate.  If you want a plane with long legs get a mossie or an american plane beside the p47 and grab drop tanks, its that simple.

Or dynamically adjust the fuel burn rate depending on current player number balance :^)
