Hahaha, seems Rumsfield is the true flip flopper for this week, given his last speech performance. Oh wait that's not what I meant I was misunderstood.
I would of thought those guys had practiced their lies and repeated it often enough not to make mistakes these days.

Details?

Rumsfield said there was no "hard evidence" there was any connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda. He later said "ooops never mnid."

A-Q is in Syria, Phillipines, Afghanistan, Iran, Suadi arabia, Africa, FLorida, Boston, Egypt, Israel, Malaysia, Qatar, Algeria, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, to name a few.
Honestly.... seriously, do you believe there were/are not any A-Q in Iraq?

There has yet to be an ounce of proof that there was. If so Bush would be using it rather then look the fool as he is over the missing WMD"s.
Of course there's plenty of A-Q and other in Iraq now.

Yup, one A-Q dude in Iraq, 1,000 lives lost, that sole A-Q dude still alive and kickin.
Serious misallocation of military resources. Doesn/t amount to a hill of beans, Bush's gonna win this one, anyway. get used to it.
I'm rather accustomed to being disappointed in november. I'm a redsox fan :(
-
There has yet to be an ounce of proof that there was.
*Wrong, btw.*
I didn't ask about proof. I asked if he really felt there weren't A-Q in Iraq.
They were in several dozen other places where they were. Iraq was a sworn enemy of the U.S. and so is A-Q. Put aside your hatred for the U.S. and use logic. Do you really think there were no A-Q in Iraq?
-
It's not about any Al Qaeda being in Iraq. It's about Saddam cooperating with Al Qaeda.
That has not been proven.
Al Qaeda is in America, should we invade ourselves?
-SW
-
AQ and Hussein being on the same team is good enough reason to depose Hussein for me.
-
"A fledgling relationship between Iraq and Al Queda floundered because of ideological differences."
- British Intelligence Report
Not even 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' worked for the Baathists and Al Queda (secular and ultra-extremist religious, respectively).

Well given that:
a) Bin Laden had already said that Saddam was an apostate and a valid target for any devout jihadi,
b) Proselytizing the wahhabi creed in baa'thist iraq was a capital offence,
c) Saddam was probably the most likely ruler in the region to continue opposing the Islamicists for pragmatic as well as ideological reasons,
I seriously doubt that Saddam and Osama were on each other's Christmas card lists, notwithstanding your naive paraphrasing of the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" platitude and the fact that the only known AQ personnel in Iraq prior to the invasion were located in the kurdish zone which was a de-facto US protectorate anyway.
-
When will some of you learn that AQ is not the ONLY threat out there.
Are we supposed to write off a danger and do nothing "OOPS no Al Queda there....ignore that anthrax lets move on"
Tunnle visioned simple minded hatefull people.
-
The reasons the American public were sold on the Iraq war was Al Qaeda and WMDs.
Now, if we are going to attack countries based on their threat to US... Iraq was waaaayyyyyyy down at the bottom of that list.

OK so why would we want to start our way at the top and work our way down? I'd figure a base of operations and Iraq is a good place to start. A free Iraq could meen the downfall of every major regiem in the middle east.
-
Middle East still isn't at the top of the list of real threats, contained within real borders.
-SW
-
The irony lays in the fact that the ousting of Saddam may lead to the demise of Bush himself. Historians are gonna have a field day with that one.
But then again, i figured Bush was the chosen one not because he was malleable but also disposable, to serve an extreme due cause if the need arises.
-
And by the way, that's empire building - taking over countries because they are the weakest to act as a base of operations.
Last I checked, empires always fall.

Who are you calling 'hateful', Gnslinger? I would advise opening a window in that glass house of yours, before you start chucking stones.

What is "IT"?
I asked a question. Answer it.
-
I agree Steve..Lets invade all those lovely nations..
Nice try on twisting my words. DENIED.
I think we should invade any country that knowingly permits A-Q to operate, btw.
I posed a question, answer it of you have the integrity to do so.
-
notwithstanding your naive paraphrasing of the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" platitude
I'm naive? Blow me.
-
Now, if we are going to attack countries based on their threat to US....list
Please, list them where Iraq is on the bottom. I'm curious.
-
the fact that the only known AQ personnel in Iraq prior to the invasion were located in the kurdish zone
this is a fact? A fact? Well if it's a fact, you can prove it. Please do so.
-
Still my Favorite steve. Over opinionated &^%#^@^. Just the way i like my Steves.

two good reasons for going ... & staying
it is hilarious to hear the dumbycrats say they can fight the war and hand out tax cuts BETTER than the Republicans - LOL
who said Bush was not a uniter? He has everyone playing from the same playbook :)

answered your question, now like it.
Would you mind answering it again please? I can't find where you did.

Ansar al-islam, commonly held to be the Iraqi A-Q "franchise". Operates in Kurdistan, which prior to the invasion was already firmly within the US sphere of influence. Look it up, lots of information in the public domain confirms what I'm telling you.

You're telling me there were A-Q in the Kurdish area. That's nice, but irrelevent.
I asked if their were A-Q in Iraq. Even though you seem to have an extremely tenuous grasp of this discussion, I'll ask it again. Considering A-Q's pervasive existence in many countries, do you really believe their were no A-Q in Iraq?

Rumsfeld isn't running for office, is he?

Thanks for all of the sources JBA. Thats the first time I've seen so many collected in one place.
