I am currently staying at the Gaylord Texan Resort here in Grapevine for a few days.
I need a recommendation for a great Steakhouse also would like to know where the best BBQ can be found close to the hotel.
Was gonna ask last week but I am still without cable/internet at home.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Go down the street to the Big Buck Steakhouse. Its right by the Embassy Suites and the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World. I admit I have never eaten a steak there but they make some great beer there.

There's a Kirby's off of 114 and Southlake blvd.
Bartley's Barbeque on highway 26 (going west) just down the road from you. It's in the shopping center behind the Whataburger (not the Whataburger next to Embassy Suites).

If you want a great steakhouse I highly recommend Williams Ranch House on Jacksboro Highway in Ft.Worth (look for the windmill in the parking lot). Eat in the bar, it has an old hunting lodge feel to it. It's a great little family owned restaurant and you will not believe the low price. About a 15 minute drive from Grapevine. If you want a lesser steak at a much higher price (you pay for the name) Del Frisco's is off Spring Valley and 635.
There is a ton of good restaurants on Northwest Highway in Dallas. About a 10 minute drive from Grapevine. The Pappa's family has Pappa's Steakhouse, Pappadeaux's(cajun & seafood), and Pappa's BBQ all located within walking distance of each other. All are very good.
Also a nice place to take clients or just treat yourself is Reata in downtown Ft.Worth's Sundance Square. Southwestern cuisine. You will need a reservation.
Hope that helps. Oh, if you want to take a short road trip out to the country I can direct you to The Wild Onion. World's Best Chicken Fried Steak, bar none.

Ah, The Wild Onion. Used to eat there almost every weekend. How often have you been out there, rpm?
It sits next to a small airport where my grandfather lives. His property is the one with the huge hanger about a 1/4 mile or so up the road. The pecans in the Onion's pecan pies are all his. Some real good eats right there.
Next time I'm out there, I'll have to eat there once again. It's been a while.

Yeah yeah....I was there too.....I was just on the other side of the bar because I had no idea who it was I was looking for and I didnt want to walk around asking total strangers if their name was Sandy. :)

If I lived anywhere near that hotel I would lobby for a name change.
