I'm just taking a quick straw poll. If you have a few seconds to answer, it would be appreciated. The question is - What do you have your max texture size set to in your AH video options?
-
1024 hardware : ATI 9600 pro
-
256... sometimes i play with it at 512.
9700pro
768mb RAM P4 2.4mhz
dx 9.0c (or the latest, whichever version it is)
-
512 nvidia gforce 256MB video ram.. Can run at 1024 with a little stater.
-
512, and i'm BARELY running it. 256 a bit 2 small.

1024, using 9800 Pro. My frame rate is good at any texture, but disabling others skins seemed to solved the freeze problem.

using 256 makes AHII look a little worse in skins than AH 1.

I tried 1024, the graphics were great, but I experienced an occasional slight hesitation when approaching some enemy planes. Not nearly as bad as the horrible screen freezes on my old system, but enough to bug me. So I switched back to 512.
I might try disabling custom skins and going back to 1024. But realistically the only time I can tell the difference between 512 and 1024 is looking at my own plane, or an allied plane right next to me. You're never that close to an enemy plane for long enough to see the difference, and I saw no difference in the ground textures.

Can run it higher on both res & textures,
but frame rate drops & its not near as smooth.

-
Radeon 9000 Pro, 1280x1024 resolution, 256 texture size.
Get ~60 fps unless I use ground mode, then it is ~10.
-
ATI 9600 Pro 128M
Res- 1280x1024
texture - 1024
frames <20 in traffic
maybe I should switch to lower texture size.

512 TI 4600 128mb 30-80fps
256 GF 2 mx 400 64mb
All my pc's also have 512 in ram and runfrom 1.3ghz to 2.2
all sliders are at 1/2way and visual distance is maxed out, bitmaping is on ,and vsinc, 800x600 32bit on all but the gf2 its at 16bit.
all 4 pc's will stutter now and then in heavy cv actions and the fps drops hard once and awhile .

You fellas under 512 (IMO) are really missing out on the high quality skins!
-
Textures: 128
Resolution: 1024 X 768
Card: GeoForce 2 MX 64MB
I tried the textures set to 1024 in the off line mode, and the only difference I could see was in the detail on the wing of my own aircraft. I could see rivets, etc., where as with the texture set lower that stuff is just sort of blurred out. Higher textures made absolutely no difference in enemy aircraft or ground detail as far as I was able to see. This may be because my computer is old it's not capable of seeing higher detail even if I set it...I'm not a computer person so i don't know if that is the case or not.

512,
1 Gig of DDR400
Nvidia Ti4400
average over 60 FPS
(If I use 1024 fps drops to 20 when land and sky are in view at same time, also when other planes are nearby)
-
512, which is what it defaulted to.
GF4-4200 128 meg
I have not attempted to use 1024 since AH2 beta and the lower resolutions don't look nearly as good IMHO. I'll try out 1024 once I get my 6800GT back from RMA.

I can't say that I see any meaningful difference when I was running things at 1024 and now at 512.

All preferences are set to lowest possible and I have custom skins off.
I get 20Frps tops in the air where there are no other planes...

In video options: Texture is set at 128x128 in 1024x768 resolution.
system specs:
*Celeron 700mhz :)
*384mb PC-100/133 SDRAM :)
*ATi Radeon 7500 PCI (3.6 catalyst drivers)
*Win XP
( i still get decent fps though :))
-
geforce 2 mx 440 64mb, 256 max textures. 40 fps avg. doubles to 60+ at 128mb, but it looks terrible and the fps isnt high enough to warrant it.
-
512 for the textures.
ATI 9600XT
I've been running 1280 x 1024 in the past frame rates in the 20-30's in most cases, detail sliders set about 90% detail and ground vis at max (3 miles)
512 megs of system memory and a 2.4ghz cpu.

512, 1024x768 screen res. on GeForce 5900XT. Athlon 1800XP+ with 512MB RAM getting rock solid 59 fps in the air, even in dogfights (Vsync on), getting 25-30 fps on the ground.

Was running at 1024 but backed it down to 512 trying to cure massive stuttering didnt really help.
