Since I had a day off today and 'honeydo" list is done, I thought I'd put some time into a tutorial on how to land the P38 Lightning "Nomad" style for those who might be interested in an alternate approach to the same old boring landings.
Hope it helps :)

No doubt an excellent example of a P-38 landing as executed by one of the famous Nomads. One glaring feature was missing. I saw no reference to a considerable number of bounces . You may have merely neglected to mention them, or you may have failed to properly execute them. I know from my years of experince with guys who fly P-38s for the Nomads that bounces are a major required component of the Nomad style landing.

Nicely done, Dan.
I'm looking forward to your whole "Landing For Dummies" self-improvement series.

One of the cool thing about the +Nomads is that they land in style.
Now if only I can get Silat to sing something other than show tunes on vox.
ack-ack

You mean everyone doesn't bounce? I thought that was a given.
My apologies for not including that. I like to be complete :)

I also find Silat's singing of show tunes particularly offensive.
On a side note, not long ago I was in the pattern and set up for a classic textbook landing. It was just exactly like I'd been told to land a real P-38 Lightning by several veteran pilots. I was concentrating on aceing that landing perfectly, and as I came over the fence at just over 75 knots in a perfect descent just a few feet off the runway, I thought "Wow Savage, this is going to be awesome, just like Stan Richardson and Art Heiden taught you". As the props hit the runway and stopped, and I heard that terribly loud scraping noise, it occurred to me that both Stan and Art would have told me to put the gear down. At least neither of them saw it.

Just an addendum to the original instructions. I also find it helpful when taxing out for a mission to follow the hand signals from my ground crew.
And it's easier to spot my crew cheif when he's smoking too
