Ok i might be stupid but heres my question....
I took a spit II (Seafire) did manueovers, shot the gun etc....
then i took a Spit 5 did the same things.....
heres my question aside from the engines how are these planes different they feel the same to me. Have same ammo load and guns as well.

Seafire is a couple pounds heavier due to "navalisation".. added a hook, maybe strengthened up the landing gear. Other than that there is no difference.

Urchin is correct, however he forgot to add that both are still very ugly. :)

Don't forget the WEP on the Spit V, that gives it another advantage over the Seafire.
-
Spit II has wep, i could have swarn
-
I believe they're refering to the Spit V boost being better in AH. I think. Maybe. I like the Seafire.
-
someone also told me diving is different in the planes. Appartenly the Seafire doesnt hold well in a fast dive, something to that notion, can anyone confirm?
-
Seafire II is just a navalized Spitfire Vb, which as was mentioned means it would be a bit heavier due to being navalized with a tail hook etc.
In the game the Seafire seems to me to have a slower roll rate and isn't as quick as the Spit V now seems to be.
It rolls more like the Spit I to me.
I like em both though

ok another completely different question....
Why if i take a Spit 5 into a turn fight and just keep turning 50 feet off the ground i can do it endlessly till the person im trying to out turn gives up.
But if i do the same thing in a Spit IX eventually the plane flips (wing buckles left, cockpit facing down towards ground) and smashes into the ground.

Probably the 1000 pound weight difference has something to do with it between the V and the IX.
The IX in AH, for lack of a better way to say it, feels like it flies heavier to me.

Ok, you picked the ugly ones....
And your pic?
-
You think that a Spit MkXVIII is ugly???
WTF is wrong with you? :)
-
It's ugly Grun.
Pointy cone-nose, cockpit too far back from the nose, large flappy wings like an albatross, and a hideously long fuselage. Looks like some boney twiggy fashion model.

Now, this is 'beautiful'.
Well rounded, but still slick nose. Perfect distance from the cockpit and the nose. Perfectly sized wings like an eagle, and lean but not thin fuselage.
:D

X4492 is not a Spitfire V. It's PRVII that was flown in Canada postwar. It in fact is a modified Spit I with the larger oil tank under the nose which lead to the cowl having to be deepened.
I'd agree that it isn't a very good looking Spit.
The Spit Vb is however in many ways the best looking of all the Spits and I'm an absolute Spit XII fanatic.

You spit folks.
I have on my HD a high resolution pic of a Spit V that I took at Duxford in the year 2000.
It's nicer still than the pic above.
Post yer emails, and I'll mail it to you, free to distribute as much as you want.
Or email me with "Spitfire pic" in the subject line at burns@isholf.is and I'll reply ;)
