I don't see how restricting free speech would be a positive thing for any of us... but I'm wacko that way. I propose we change avatars to the winner.

since I don't know any members of the Saudi royal family, and don't really spend time with anyone who has that kind of money (top 1% wealth wise), I don't know anyone who stands to benefit from him being re-elected.

BTW- I never said Kerry would win, and never read anyone else saying it.  I do remember saying Bush should lose.

if what should happen always happened I probably wouldn't even know who GW Bush was.

Sandman!!!

Do you realize what you have just done?

You have singlehandedly denied us of a solid 60 day non-stop whinefest. Oh, and the tears... No wait, the denial.... Or whatever it would have been, it would have been a spectacle. Now that's gone. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

While I have my doubts that Kerry will win... I'll take a hit for the team just on the chance that Eagler will be silent for two months. ;)

Anyway... amend the bet to silent until January 1 and we can go with that. :)

After Eagler's performance on this board during the run up, he's looking for an excuse to escape for a few months if Kerry wins...and he calls other people chickens.  He's losing faith.

thanks Sandman - one of ya have a set, to walk the talk..

If it's a clear winer Nov 3 we can do the bet until Jan1. Just think they'll drag the results out, with all the voting fraud cries and all, regardless of who wins, in which case we'll have to wait until the courts decide a winner for our 60 day band to start

I was truly hoping Nash would take the bet, I think it'd been therapeutic for him - either way it ends up :)

Right now...  Bush is much stronger in the elctorial than kerrie.  He is stronger than he was with gore in 2000 and..  the way the electorial votes are distributed this time gives Bush about 11 "freebies"...   Bush would win by 285 votes or so... no popular vote poll puts kerrie ahead at this time... most show him down from 1-4% points.

Everyone who is gonna be influenced one way or the other by moore or stern or CBS has allready seen everything they have to offer.    F 9/11 could be showing in the polling booths and it wouldn't change things at this point

kerrie could win tho... it is close enough for that to happen.  Probly the most important things will be the 30 sec attack adds that will be running and any new "documentaries" or stories that come out late and can't be disproven before the election.

The real biggest chance kerrie has tho is the huge war chest he is piling up for the anticipated "recounts" in the hope that he can change the outcome of the voting.

clear, fair and square win by either candidate would be immensly preferable to this.

oh, and eagler...you realize that you now have to win two bets in order to win instead of one?   if you lose either then..... you lose the whole thing

I'd take the bet as well but I don't want to take away from Nuke's and my bet.
You care to enter a wager?
Loser has to put in his sigline from Jan 01, 2005 to Jan 01, 2009:
"**** was the best president EVAR!"
The winner gets to choose the US President the loser has to put in their sigline(where xxxx is in sample). The loser can add if he wishes:
"I lost a bet with-----."

The loser cannot change ID's to avoid paying the bet. If they do change their ID, their new sigline has to have the above line.

So Eagler, you got a pair? Bet on? ;c)

Well I'll pass on your bet as I don't want you gone THAT long, hehe. If another Bush supporter steps forward, I'll accept your bet with that person.
Your bet is brilliant, though. You're trying to rid a lot of Bush non-supporters vs a single Bush supporter. Small risk for you to take one for the "team" ;)

Come on Kerry and my gimmee my union money. I'll buy another bigscreen and more games, not read the bbs on a bigger monitor.. That ***** Nash will either be gloating that he was right about stuff that doesn't concern him, or just posting about... something I have not cared to read in 6 months. Rpmhat will be jizzing all overhimself, which will be sad, but worth missing.

Admit it. You're doing it just to escape the embarassment. I, on the other hand am willing to take the beat down if Kerry loses... but so far exit polls have Kerry by a large margin.

Take with a grain of salt (even though it's good news). In general, Repubs vote in the AM, Dems in the PM.

I still love ya man, but your addition to the general political (read: retarded) noise level in the O'club has been substantial in the last few months.  I used to anticipate reading a Nash post, now I just hope I can read it without gagging (ie: hope that it's NOT a political post).  I'm betting Creamedho feels the same way.

Here is the poll I was quoting.
Quote
Regardless of who you have or will vote for, who do you think will be the next President of the United States?   * 369880 responses

Pres. Bush 32%   Sen. Kerry 68%
This is in no way a scientific poll.

I'm not sure but think so. Something about influencing elections. People tend to not vote if their favorite has no chance of winning.

I've been thinking about what you said.... and yeah, of course I've been aware of that. It's not making me any friends here, that's for sure. In the immortal words of Geedub; "I know that."

A couple of things:

Nobody here has been saying what I've been saying. And that is that I think Kerry is not the lesser of two evils. I think he's a good man. I have the sneaking suspicion that the derision is due NOT to my having an opinion, but the content of it. It sticks out like a sore thumb 'round here.

But whaddya expect me to do? Say stuff I don't believe? Win friends and influence people instead? Come on... this aint a beauty contest. It's highly unlikely that we'll ever meet. And should we, politics would be the last thing we'd talk about. But alas, politcs reigns supreme on this BBS...

On a base psychological level, it stings when you hear something that is at odds with your beliefs. It's the reason why FOX is absolutely chalkboard scratchingly PAINFUL for me to watch. Thus I know it causes people, uhm , unease when I say things only a moron would think people here could get behind.

I aint asking nor expecting anyone to get behind me. I don't care about all that. But I aint gonna refrain from participating just 'cuz it's not the way that other people think.

When I say stuff, you can be assured that it aint regurgitated from some wild arsed freeper mass email spam. I've shrecked up, like when I called the CBS story a non-story. But generally, by the time it comes out of my mouth, it has been processed enough for me to be confident in it. And I think that's also missing from here.

Consider it my personal fatwa (or whatever ya spell it) against the rip-n-pastes.

Now, why do I have to say anything at all? Why even bother? Why piss Creamo off when I could just as easily talk about rockets?

Lemme quote one of my personal gods:

"The genetically vicious nature of presidential campaigns in America is too obvious to argue with, but some people call it fun, and I am one of them. Election Day - especially a presidential election - is always a wild and terrifying time for politics junkies, and I am one of those, too. We look forward to major election days like sex addicts look forward to orgies. We are slaves to it"

- Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

So hey, I dig politics. Busted. I mean, I really do. Fear and Loathing... I love that chit. So? It just turns out that my opinion collides with everyone else's. Either agree with it, reject it, or skip it. What would be the point of playing dumb? Just say what ya mean, and know what ya say, and let the chips fall where they may.

I like to think I've got some perspective. We're playing wonks on a BBS. Yet I know fer DAMN sure that if I and Lazs, Martlet, Eagler, Nuke, Creamo etc. ever met, we'd get along just great.

There's no real reason to get personal and nasty about it. There's no reason to take it like that.

Hey man, I don't think you should do anything just 'cause it'd make me less nauseous, I was just sayin'.  It's the politicking that makes me wanna hurl.  A little here and there is fun, but the nonstop bombardment, particularly of the heavy partisan LOL³/Bush is Hitler/Liberuls hate Amurrikah kind...and of course any political thread seems to bring this out, no matter how smartly it is started.  It's honestly got nothing to do with who you support, 'cause up until now all I knew was that you weren't a big Bush fan, and neither am I.  Regardless of content, if it's political, it's just adding more of the same old bore, and that's what I could do without.  That said, I don't think you even approach the mindless blather that the extreme political tards on the edge of reason spout off here.

So, as I was saying, I hate you, and I hope you get eaten by a rabid seal as you slumber in your igloo tonight.
