VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY CHASTISES SEN. KERRY'S REFERENCE TO HIS DAUGHTER'S SEXUALITY
CHENEY IN FT. MYERS, FL: "You saw a man who will say and do anything in order to get elected. And I am not speaking just as a father here, though I am a pretty angry father, but as a citizen."
ELIZABETH EDWARDS ACCUSES LYNNE CHENEY OF "SHAME" OF HER DAUGHTER: "She's overreacted to this and treated it as if it's shameful to have this discussion. I think that's a very sad state of affairs… I think that it indicates a certain degree of shame with respect to her daughter's sexual preferences… It makes me really sad that that's Lynne's response."
LYNNE CHENEY AT POST-DEBATE RALLY: "The only thing I could conclude is that this is not a good man. This is not a good man. And, of course, I'm speaking as a mom. And a pretty indignant one. This is not a good man. What a cheap and tawdry political trick."
DICK CHENEY TO NBC AFFILIATE WHO: "I would have said Sen. Kerry was out of line to bring my daughter into it. I thought it was totally inappropriate."
WHAT KERRY SAID: "And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as."
KERRY CAMPAIGN: Senior Kerry aide acknowledges "it was not his best moment," but calls charges that it was inappropriate "ridiculous… The woman is in her thirties. She's public about her sexuality. It was brought up in the last debate. So, what the hell?" ABC News' Marc Ambinder reports…

yeah that was the low moment of the debate.
Kerry is slime, what do you expect?
-
"Is homosexuality a matter of choice?"
"I don't know.... ... activitst judges ... sanctity of marriage... I don't know...."
-
Maybe the three of them can get together and work it out? ;)

Muckmaw1 is there really a point in cutting and pasting here the whole drudge report site ?

Well, for starters, Drudge has been right in the past, and wrong in the past! Kinda like Dan Rather! ;)
-
He shouldn't have said it.
-
Perhaps Rip :)
btw I'm still trying to translate this :
And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as.
English can be difficult to translate ... but English spoke by a politician give me ultimate headache ...
Of course I'm assuming this sentence mean something ...
But I could be wrong, it's a politician afterall ...

The conservative view Straffo, is that Kerry was trying to denegrate the President and VP by mentioning Cheney's Lesbian daughter. The Liberal view is that mentioning someones sexuality should be accepted and is no big deal... especially since Lynn Cheney has already gone public.
The approach most reasonable people will take is that a person's sexuality is no ones business and should not have been discussed in a public forum.
Or will they?
-
but what the comment did was HIDE skerries answer to the question.
"NO THEY DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE"
which for some gays it maybe but for others, that is not the case thus making skerry's answer false ... but that is nothing new...
I'd say for some it isn't a choice, but for many, maybe the majority, it is a lifestyle they CHOOSE, some that stick with it for life and others who don't and go back to hetro

So Eagler - you say that you (presuming here) CHOSE to be attracted by women? After weighing out the pros and cons you said to yourself - ah, come on let's go for the traditional style? And if the whatever circumstances change you'd probably CHOOSE to be attracted by the same sex? Nah, I don't think so. I go with Kerry on this one that it's not a matter of CHOICE but what you are - maybe not what you born as because people change and grow. Choice is a intellectual process (most of the times). You may choose to LIVE out that sexuality but not to have it inside you...

Though I agree bringin in a specific person was outta line...

It just so happens Drudge had 2 compelling articles today/
I post it so people can discuss the articles and other news items that might have been otherwise missed.
Does this bother you?

That'd be my view.

Kirin
I am taking into account ppl who were gay and are not now. (see SOB :)) what happened if they did not CHOOSE one lifestyle or over the other? Something flip in their hormones?
I say there are both types, skerry stated there is not, NONE of the homos have a CHOICE in the matter
maybe in skerries perfect world this is the case, reality does not bare this out though
-
Your wrong on this one Eagler. I know, you rarely hear that from me, but on this one you are wrong.
-
If it was Kerrys daughter..you know the discussion here would have started day one second one and continued to this second.

As a conservative, I tend to disagree with the above sentiment.
I don't remember Reagan mentioning Jimmy Carter's brother Billy, Clinton's daughter or members of Dukakis's family were off limits, and present and potential first ladies have been traditionally treated with more respect than their husbands. (Hillary was mentioned as 'co-president' and 'Buy one get one free' by Bill, so she became fair game)
It has been sort of a gentleman's agreement that family members not be an issue in the campaigns.
