Last year after playing and loveing AH1 for a month I excitedally pre-paid a whole year. Here are some things that I enjoyed in AH1 and not in AH2 and reasons to nearly hate AH2.
1) It used to be a blast to up a GV, drive a moderate distance, and then all by yourself take an enmy base after returning in an m3.
Now you up a panzer, drive half way to helll, and then all by yourself try to take New York Friggen City!! And then spend 10 mins debateing the stupidity of another try??
2)In AH1 it was a blast to up a fighter plane and actually have a chance of going out and getting a kill or 2 and live or die still feel good about the mission.
Now you can bet your $14.95 that if you're actually lucky enough to get within the 200 yard range of enmy and actually get a kill...there's about a 90% chance that afteer RTB'ing you'll die trying to land with the oily view or something.
AH1 addicted you to wanna excell with results.
AH2 leads me to say, " I come to you anticipateing a little bit of fun and relaxation but everytime i get no satisfaction . I wind up pissered off, beat down till I see nothing but black and red and have to run off with my tail between my legs........HITECHCREATIONS I ALREADY PAY MY WIFE TO DO THIS JOB!!!!!!!!

hhmmm ill take a crake at it....im a little rusty so bear with me.
1) It used to be a blast to up a GV, drive a moderate distance, and then all by yourself take an enmy base after returning in an m3.
A) you cant game the game like u used to...bummer huh?
B) To take a base now really requires more teamwork {dig the concept, you will see this more in the future with TOD}
2)In AH1 it was a blast to up a fighter plane and actually have a chance of going out and getting a kill or 2 and live or die still feel good about the mission.
A) still a blast...you can still get kills you can still land....unless you really arent good.
Now you can bet your $14.95 that if you're actually lucky enough to get within the 200 yard range of enmy and actually get a kill...there's about a 90% chance that afteer RTB'ing you'll die trying to land with the oily view or something.
A) i've landed in this oil covered position many times...rise to the challange

A) Stop running and FIGHT! ( will prolly alleiviate the problem in your second statement
B) Give wivey more luvvin....if momma aint happy aint nobody happy.:aok
In conclusion my advice is :
A) Fly better, stop running from fights
B) Stop whinning and being so dang selfish...even your wife is tired of it
C) It's just a game. Make it what you will

I'll reply and give my opinion if you reply and type your IN game I.D.

The problem with AH2 is that there are bugs which limits the competitiveness of the game. In AH1 everything was about skill. Now its partly luck. Now the game has become a "job" to play. Im noticing more and more squadmates only coming on for an hour or two every other day to play. THe only reason keeping them here is the community. The gameplay of AH1 will never be matched in Aces High anymore.
-
Here`s the solution to your problem.
Call Hightech Creations and ask for Roy or Dale. Whichever one gets on the phone tell them in a LOUD voice , while jumping up and down, that you are going to hold your breath until things are put the way you want them.
When you wake up in the emergency room due to lack of oxygen things will look a lot better.

This fullfills my obligation. I will not endulge the whine any further though. I'm firmly convicted that if you think something isn't fun, you should go elsewhere rather than try to make everyone else unhappy.

Sorry, couldn't help myself!

am i the only one that finds it easier?
in AH1 i did average not great in a fighter.
right now (first full tour in AH2) i have 96 Kills 60 Assists, 43 Deaths.
Im having a blast with it maybe cause like someone said its pratically luck.
as for oily view, not only did i shoot 2 people down with oily view i landed the kills, so its possible.

Heh... I can relate... But to be honest with you no one on this BBS really gives a rats behind whether you are happy or unhappy just that you continue to perform like a baby seal for them to get kills... Everyone is out for themselves, your personal feelings about game play are meaningless! Get over it... Here's a tip....spend more time with your family...

Luck is often confused with skill.

hmmmm well once I landed 3 kills.
don't remb what I was in, but I was leaking oil, fuel, blood, missing a half a wing, 1 of the elevators gone, only had 1 gear left, 2 guns shot out.
I don't remb if I filmed it or not (have too many films to find it easily). but I do remb after landing, and ending successfully. I said to myself "Damn, what a rush." < things like this makes it worth it to me.
missing plane parts, tells me I was in a good fight :)
only thing I can tell you is repeating what has been said, go get some training. it does makes a world of difference.

It is a different game indeed. There are MANY things i dont like about AH2. Still deciding how long i will stay. (exercising the patient's thing). But frankly the game is fast growing away from me. we will see. As for the (TOD) i would be surprised to see it within the next 18 months or even 3 years. Likely about a year or year and a half is my guess.
Try to have fun inspite, and when i heads to maximum suckage. Best to leave and (Do not look to the BBS for support)

Buy Microsoft Flight simulator 2004, load up the pattern with ai aircraft and jump into line for some touch and goes in your plane of choice when you need a little flying fix... go and auction off your remaining account time on eBay to pay for your new found 'enjoyment'.

is why I wish we could either delete or rename the file/film to save once the sortie is over, would save everyone tons of time trying to go thru and figure out what films one wants to keep or trash!

Burro,
Keep in mind that we are still paying to be Beta testers. This game is currently an entomologist's idea of valhalla.

Hey Guys, the is much better i like it more, challenging fights plus the gv model is cool, gotta becarefull when you go head deep into battle, it takes more skill in ah2, like getting onnme 6 200 to 400 yards then pulling the triger, no more sniping at 1000yrds, it makes you more of a better pilot too, capture a base by a lone flk taking the town down, then coming in a m3 to get base, that was chezzy, now you have to coordinate w/ others to capture a base, thats good, I say Keep up the good work HTC! <

The game is what you make it combined with the attitude you bring to it.
If you are looking for the prefect scenario where everything goes the way you want it to, it "ain't gonna happen".

........HITECHCREATIONS I ALREADY PAY MY WIFE TO DO THIS JOB!!!!!!!!
What do you pay your wife for? Nowadays most of them will split the hotel room with you 50/50. =)
I'm just kidding... They shot AH1 and buried it.. best advice would be to tune your skills and enjoy the AHII wonderland or hang out on the BBS complaining for the rest of your paid year and put together some jigsaw puzzles in your free time :aok

That seems to be a very unfair assumption on your part.

This guy need to learn the FM. It's like staring all over for me too. Look at my hit %. But I'm not complaining cause it takes me twice as many rounds to hit a plane. Thats the fun part, learning the game all over.. always a challange. This is a sim, not an arcade soo it has a learning curve and skill is also involved. Thats the beauty of it. Take the time to learn like the rest of us.
-
I find myself agreeing with shane on this one,,,"sounds like another ankle hummper needing a lesson",,,,ho my gosh,,,am I getting jaded??
After reading some of the latest threads on AH2 gunnery issues and problems, I have begun to improve my own gunnery skills. At least in my mind. Instead of wasting the shared wisdom freely given on this BB, steal all of it and make the changes needed to adapt. It's being shared to help all of us become the best we possibly can become at this game. Wasting it like this is just par for ankle hummpers<----sorry shane:)

LOL Willdcrd and the rest. If nothing else it made me laugh.

You obviously are not in the game for the AtoA combat if the above is what you enjoyed. Pleaaaaassssseeeee. Take a base by yourself with a GV. WOW! Talk about fun! HTC should just allow you to take bases in the Offline version what the hell is the difference, why even get online.
2)In AH1 it was a blast to up a fighter plane and actually have a chance of going out and getting a kill or 2 and live or die still feel good about the mission.
See statement 1. If you were flying more you would be better at fighting, instead of wasting you time taking undefended bases in GVs. Hit the training arena, improve your AtoA skills and then maybe you can appreciate the difference between AHI and AHII. Until then you better get another box of tissues.
HTC has made some decent strides in the last few months. Game play is still bad, but the ENY limiter has at least brought balanced play back.
IMO taking bases in AHI was childs play as noted by your post. I personally love the fights that taking two or three attempts to take a base. It means more fighting and more of a challenge all of which is a good thing.
Now if we could just get the bases moved a little closer on some of these maps so there is more fighting than flying around things would get even better.
OZ was a refreshing change and really makes me realize how bad the other maps are. I just hope OZ stays up for a few weeks like the other maps. Only one week of OZ and 4 weeks of the other crap will hurt.

:rofl :lol :D :) :p :aok
that says it all

Burrro... AHII is not ur fathers AH... gunnery skills have evolved, among other things. and so must u... suck it up, get better, and rule the arena with ur new found abilitys... have fun!

You asked me to read and reply, and here it is:
-teamwork. The point of scenery is to make gving more teamwork-based and more difficult. The only change made to gvs in the terrain. It is more complex, difficult, and requires more teamwork.
-adjust. Aces high 2 is more difficult with a different flightmodel and more difficult gunnery. Adapt to it. OR it could be you just suck at flying. No problems here, I have no trouble shooting things down and getting shot down.
-no one is forcing you to play this game.
THere, I put my thougts in writing. As said above, careful what you wish for when you say "Everyone reply":lol

I used to play AW SVGA head to head over a null modem and 4800 dial-up with a 386. After 6 months of that still in my foggy old memory, this is heavan. I have no complaints. Any time I think something is a bit off, I just put on the "WAY BACK" cap and go thank god for Aces High.................

Yep, AH2 sux, half of our sqd doesn't play it amymore , CO canceled acount.
AH2 is worst than in Ah1; huge towns , fuel burning rate , ME110g2 killing CVs, friendly puff acs killing me ..............
I was waiting to see new planes, gvs, but i lost my hopes, maybe next month, next year .......bs.

This just proves it. GVs promote whining. Toss em out. Both of em. :p

Or even better do this over Vatsim during one of the big multi virtual airline fly-ins.
I'd reply to the orginal post but I'd probably get banned for life. :lol

I completely agree with ghi. The gameplay HAS changed. Don't say that it hasn't because it has. I've seen countless times where we didnt capture bases because of some bug or the gameplay just didn't allow it to make it possible.
AH2 is apart of the community losing members. Then again, so is every modification done to any other type of simulation or game. But I believe many think that AH1 was alot more fun and alot more competitive.
-
"didnt capture bases because of some bug or the gameplay just didn't allow it to make it possible"
That reminds me of a classic. Is that map still in rotation can't remember the name might be Trinity. Where there is a town in the lake so when ever you try and drop troops they all drown and die.
Funny watching a few goon pilots attempt that one. But I assume that was fixed before AH2.
As for 110's strafing and killing CV's that's always been the case, nothing new there. You've always been able to strafe and kill the cruiser with one pass in a G2 never been bothered to try with a CV.

Yeah it sucks to lose the WAR  :lol

"Democracy is a terrible thing, but we still got nothing better." (c)
AH2 sucks but we have nothing close to that.
-
Here's my reply:
This is the player life cycle HT was talking about. Possibly there is some confusion between getting bored with the game itself and mastering the new game differences. If you're not "into the game" how can you really justify skating the learning curve again?
I think because of the game change many leaving players fail to really examine the deeper underlying causes of why they've lost interest and just attribute it to the most obvious thing.
I think if the game hadn't changed, you may have left anyway. For every one of these vets around here who have stuck around since AW or whatever, there's probably a great number of players who have come and gone after a year or two, never to play an online game again.
I do understand the "immediate gratification" idea and agree that AH2 is different from AH1 in that respect, so if "IG" is what you're looking for, AH2 probably isn't going to be as satisfying anymore. No worries, each to his own.
-
Ok, read this. Now: Obligatory reply...

only thing i hate about ah2 are the glitches, well that and my what i thought would be good enough but still seems to have to with needing another upgrade:mad:

it is a proven fact ( researched & verified) that the people or pesimist who look at everything from a negative point of view are never lucky, never hardly ever get anywhere in life and are always complaining about something............
as to where people or optimist who who look at everything with a positive point of view are far more lucky, most likely will get some where or gain in life, and are most times enjoying themselves
guess it is easy to see who is who in this particular thread :D

just to see how hard it is to strafe a CV down with a aircraft i took up a YAK-T 2 days ago and made a NOE run to a enemy fleet and deacked most of the cruiser some guns on the CV and deacked a escourt all guns on it
this needs to be fixed:rolleyes:
