Since the Democrats have bought most of the minority votes in this country I'm wondering if any of these countries will give me anything for mine?
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,135545,00.html
And in eight out of 10 nations, those polled said — often in landslide proportions — that they hoped to see Democrat John Kerry (search) beat U.S. President Bush (search) in next month's election. Bush won backing from a majority of respondents only in Russia and Israel.

Funny thing is after 9/11 you got whole world with you but somehow you managed to blow it.
Should hire better PR-person :)
-
not suprising at all that most countries don't want a moron like Bush to continue to weild the power of president of our country.
it's like giving a chimp a loaded gun and letting him walk through a crowd.

Makes me wonder who the moron is.

So, appearently, did the Afghans. :)

i guess john heinz-kerry passes the "global test"?
maybe we should let the UN pick our president, then we could pay off the national debt with oil for food kick backs.
-
now john...dont be getting all nazty on the UN, afterall....compared to the evil states of america the UN is just a back alley purse snatcher.

Don't interpret the polls as pro Kerry. They are basically 'anybody but Bush'. I'm afraid GWB is widely detested. Probably the most disliked US president outside America since...........Nixon?
If he gets re-elected he may try to address the issue because much of what America is doing requires the goodwill and cooperation of other countries. Shocking though that concept is to some people.

Nixon was pretty impressive internationally. Just the folks within the US disliked him.
You have to go much further back in time... and even then, I'm not sure if you'll find a more hated President on an international scale.
Let me pose this question:
Who, in the history of the United States of America, do you think was more hated internationally than Bush Jr. is now?
Seriously...

Obviously a little alchohol wont make this any more funny than it is.

Our Republic is not likely (whatsoever) to collapse no matter who's elected, Bush or Kerry. Our friendships and alliances on the other hand...
To me, at least, it seems like Bush has completely burnt his bridges to the rest of the world. I'm not saying that sweet talker Kerry will be able to use his "famous charm" to any advantage in that respect, but at least he hasn't gone off being a cowboy and ticking all these other countries off... yet.
It's sad because there are some things I admire about Bush, and I thought he was great right after 9-11 "Well I can hear YOU.."....
Unfortunately, I'm sorry but we need some Allies right about now and I doubt we'll get many with Bush in charge.
Kerry has my vote.
(This is not the only reason, or the main reason, I'll be voting for him, but I feel it is an important reason, even if that makes me a "moron").

So the euro's loved Nixon, arguably the worst politican we have ever fielded, but hate Bush. I would say they are 2 for 2 on being deadass wrong, so far.
-
how could anyone not like Bush... he is so lovable.
The froggies don't like Bush?Oh well... they eat snails and stuff too. and the canadians? what, Bush not dull enough for the canadians? the germans? puleees... we will probly just have to stomp em again some time in the future anyway when they (as they periodicly do) forget they are not the master race and start causing problems again... Who else? norweigns? Yeah... that's a big worry. Aussies? used to like the aussies but heck... they let the women take their guns so....

I don't think he was the worst at all. Highly qualified, but uniquely flawed is all.

I'd say Monroe was disliked the most.

you mean like france? france was never the allie of the US , and don't say 1776, france only helped the colonies because we were fighting england. france wanted payback for losing canada.
WW2, france grudgingly accepted help from US, (like they had a choice) and degaull insisted on going into paris first so it would look like he "liberated" the city.
-
nixons biggest flaw was the indiscriminate use of a tape recorder, at least thats the only issue where his apeal is less than Bush's.
I'd vote for Nixon over Bush any day (and yes I know he's dead).
-
Nixon was pure sleaze.
-
Yeah, but he got us out of Viet Nam.
-
Bush Jr., vs Nixon, will not even register.
It would be hilarious, if possible, to see the both of them in the same room together having a conversation.
Bush Jr., overwhelmed, would resort to saying "How about those Rangers?".
What else could he say?
An unfit man in the presence of serious company. A heavy hitter.
There is a reason why Bush's environment is so tightly controlled.
-
Bush vs Nixon?
Bush would wind up as filler inside a bridge somewhere :)

WTF?? Where the heck did you learn history? Cracker Jack cartoons? Politicians are the same no matter what country they call home, but we have never had more supportive friends than the people of France. We just now built a national memorial to the vets of WWII. France has been remembering them for 60 years. And honoring them. Hell, I can remember my grandpa not getting most of his medals until the late 80s, and I know a few more WWII vets that have NEVER gotten medals they earned getting their butts shot off. Compare that to the scene I witnessed just yesterday here in Honolulu. France gave out Legion of Honor medals to WWII vets to remember them on the 60th anniversary of D-Day. One vet who lives here was unable to travel. So they came here and awarded him the medal. Politics or not, thats pretty damn cool of them. This guy was supposed to have gotten the Medal of Honor. The highest award we can give. Guess when he finally got his medal. Clinton gave it to him in 2001. 56 years he waited for that one, and still had to go to Washington to get it, they sure as heck werent bringing it to him.
I guess you never saw pictures of the memorials the French people built after the 9/11 attacks for us. The expressions of sympathy and support.
How about the fact that still to this very day we do not have a national memorial to those who died in WWI. They have one in FRANCE though.
French politicians may be real arse-holios just like most of ours, but the people support us like no one else in the world. So in the famous words of Archie Bunker.......
STIFLE! :p

The words of former foreign secretary Robin Cook have come true faster than I thought possible. He said this in his resignation speech to the Commons, just after it was announced the UK was to invade Iraq.
Only a year ago, we and the United States were part of a coalition against terrorism that was wider and more diverse than I would ever have imagined possible.
History will be astonished at the diplomatic miscalculations that led so quickly to the disintegration of that powerful coalition.

very meaningful poll. not.
it's a poll where 4000 people out of the 30,000 who were asked responded. they were polled by replying to e-mails that were sent to them (so their answers could be tracked back to them). and (as stated in the article) those who received the e-mails were older, higher ranking, career men and not a legitimate cross section of the military as a whole.
you know we could take a poll at work. just ask the guys who they plan to vote for as you hand out job assignments.
just let the guys know who you want them to vote for and let them wonder what sort of job they will be assigned to if they speak up for the other side.
I imagine the results would be much like this poll, with the vast majority declining to answer, and the majority of those who do telling me what they think I want to hear.
please, if you're going to do the 'cut and paste' thing at least find an article that is actually saying something.

I find it a big plus for Bush that some of those countries want him replaced. I'm voting early on the 18th and it won't be for Kerry.
-
I'm voting for sure.
I'm going to wear a BUSH button and tell some lucky hairy arm pit liberal chick that waited so long for her moment to cast a vote and change America, that it has just been nullified by my vote. Done. Over. Awesome. It will make it all worth while. Plus, I’m in a swing State, and if Eagler wins the whole bet, we won’t have to hear all this political BS till Jan 1, just endless Eagler LOL's, which in comparison is cool by me.( And I’ll be on vacation till the 6th.) Well, rpmhat and nash didn’t have the balls Hillary has to take up Eagler, but it would be funny anyway.
The best thing is, if Kerry wins, we will all have health care, France and the world will rejoin us for who knows what, gas prices will drop $1 a gallon, the war will be over in Iraq, lotsa other great stuff Bush has kept us from. Oh, and my union, after sending me all this Pro-Kerry mail, says I get even more money! I can't lose.

I did mean France, actually. And Germany, and the British (not the British government, the British populace), and anyone else in Europe who now dislikes American policy so much, or, for that matter, the rest of the world. (Excluding the middle east, of course... I doubt we'll ever win their hearts).
I think Iraq is a pretty clear indication that we need allies. Maybe not to win the "war" but definately to help us keep the peace. Let's face it, America doesn't have a long history of keeping martial law and dealing with violently unruly populations... (I know there have been some examples in our lifetimes, and certainly many before that, but that's certainly not the norm)... My point is, we're out of our league.
I'd like to have a president who, though maintaining his stance that we make our own security decisions, would actually listen to the opinions of others. Just because you're born across the ocean doesn't mean you don't have a good idea. A few opinions just might be worth listening to.
I can't say that Kerry will do that. I can say I believe Bush will not.

The Annenburg poll showed the same result, re: military for Bush.

It looks like Bush is holding a steady 2% lead in the polls and is florida away from a sure victory in the electorial..
weird but... Florida will probly be a huge factor again if kerrie manages to hang onto all his weak states and then take all the undecided ones besides Florida... if NJ or one Pa or something goes Bush then even Fla. won't be enough for kerrie. kerrie is in much worse shape than gore was in 2000.
I hope that the election is more than 27 electorial votes for Bush tho so that the dems don't try to overturn the election with recounts... I don't think they will do it for more than one state but... who knows... they have proven in the past they have no shame... they tried to rig the election by keeping nader off the ballot so they might try anything.

"When" is not the issue.. It's "How" that should concern you. The Nazi's were no clear threat to us at the time but we sent the largest army we ever had to Europe to defeat them for the good of the world.
In addition, we never ask you (Europe) why you didn't solve the problem before it got out of hand the way we're trying to do in the Middle East.
We sent millions of men to fight and die for your mistakes and then gave you the Marshall Plan when it was over.
Oh, and then there was the Cold War when we stood guard over you for 50 years....
And then, when the United States would like you to make the smallest contribution in Iraq your nowhere to be found.
If you understand what I just said you'll understand much...

the fact that you left your allies to fight for themselves for 3 years doesnt help much either. i expect europe will start helping you with iraq or iran or wherever the hell you are at the time sometime next year, or maybe the year after.

I don't know about that chart Eagler; Ohio sure doesn't seem like a "Red" state. I see about 20 Kerry signs for every one Bush sign. We haven't been getting very many reports of stolen signs so I don't think that's an issue. I wouldn't be surprised at all of Ohio goes to Kerry in November; I think it'll be close.
I'm in the southern part of the Notheast Ohio region, in the Akron/Canton area. This is probably the more left-leaning portion of the state. I've heard that Central Ohio/Columbus is more right-leaning.

Most of the polls are within their margins of error. It's really too close to call it.
Nice looking map though:)
