You can buy those at http://www.flyingthingz.com

I ordered one. :) $124

It's not a real lawnmower, its a kit. It's wood basicly.

I'm actually seriously considering doing something very much like that but opposite.

I've been looking around for a used self propelled lawn mower...

.....rebuild the motor

......Add some sort of rear stearing whell

......a couple of servos and relays

And I have my very own remote control lawn mower.

On a side note, I wonder how soon will we have the first horror movie with this (http://www.friendlyrobotics.com/robomo.htm) ! ;)

Wouldnt it......seriously it get's HOT here.  Plus my dogs allways levaving there stupid bones in the yard wich turn into fragmentation grenades when ran over.......

I think sitting down in my kid's baby pool.....small radio playing some CCR......one of those beer hats (OR CAMLEBACK filled w/ said beer) and mowing the lawn becomes fun again!

I can even save money instead of buying I torqe servos I could use geared pully system w/ relays.

I've got it all figured out I just need the mower!   :D

They have one at the Wings over Houston air show.  Kids get a kick out of it.

[Announcer] Well, next we will bring out the remote controlled airplanes.  But first, Grandpa will have to get out there and mow some grass.  Look out!!!  Grandpa lost control of the mower.  Well, I'll be.  Look at that lawnmower fly [/Announcer]

How does it generate lift?

The fluid dynamics associated with it shape allow it to have lower pressure on the upper surfaces and higher pressure on the lower surfaces when pulled through the air with the thrust of a spinning twisted airfoil (called a propeller) attached to a piston engine which turns the propeller.

The piston engine converts chemical energy to thermal energy by a process called burning which consist of rapid oxidation. This heat energy is then transformed into kinetic energy by means of piston and cylinder arrangement connected to a spinning crankshaft which is in turn connected to the propeller.

:rofl

Also..You put a big enough engine on a brick and it will fly.

From the looks of it, it uses a forward mounted prop. The deck is the wing surface.

The funny thing to me is that it appears to be inherently stable in flight.

I can see how the pitch control works but I cannot see how they are getting roll out of that shape.

Amazing what some brains and too much time on your hands can come up with.
