I cheat. :D

I do my skins now in 2048x2048 resolution.  I played around with the line tool in PSP8 and got it to make lines with rivets spaced every 4 pixels.  (In a 1024x1024 thats a rivet every 2 pixels). Therefore, all I have to do is place lines of rivets, just as I would with panel lines.  So, instead of doing it rivet by rivet I can now do entire templates in an hour or so.  E-mail me if you want to try it and dont understand.  I'll be glad to explain.

I believe that Greebo does it this way as well.

I also do a little something extra to make the rivets look worn.  I duplicate the rivet layer, then do an average blur of 7.  I then do a guassian blur of 2. This gives them a nice worn out look.

Another thing I do is fade out a bunch of the rivets.  I use an eraser at an opacity of 15-18 and randomly go over the skin.  I then go over it again.  In some spots this completely erases the rivets, and in others it fades itvery much, and yet in others it remains untouched.  This also helps if you want to make a weathered bird.

So, with the above 2 techniques it gives you great looking rivets.

Here you are.  This is a website I made with pictures that explains in detail how I go about doing rivets for my skins.

Whats your Email address?  The template is too big to put on ah-skins.com.  I'll also host it on that riveting webpage.

Actually, the zip is very large, so Ill just upload it to my site and see if I cant get it any smaller for AH-skins.
Might be a while.  Dont have enough server space to host them.
