You got any profiles of 309FS (US) Spit 9's. Including the noseart?
-
I'll tell you what, any skin done around here outta have Guppy's name on it along with the painter when submitted.
Without his help we'd all be scraping for ideas and information around here.
A big :aok to ya bud.

You're not kidding nopoop. We'd all be stuck without his vast library for reference.

Thanks for the words gents. I really enjoy this stuff and it's good to be able to put the references to use :)
Only 309th FS Spit IX I could find so far tonite.
BUT! It could be a great skin because it would definately be different.
It's the Tan/Brown upper camo, red nose, Azure blue undersides. WZ-JJ on both sides with WZ in front of the roundel on the leftside. Fairly easy to do nose art and it has the red surround to the star and bar that was used for a short time.
And it's a small tail Spit IX instead of one of the more numerous US flown VIIIs
I'll keep looking for color shots

Couldn't find color of this one, so I did a quick profile. No time for shading etc but it should give you the idea on color etc.

Still looking for other USAAF Spit IXs from the 309th FS

Left side view of a 309th FS Spit IX taken May 43.

A later view of the 309th FS Spit IXs. Note the strip on the outer part of the wing. I believe this is the yellow ID stripe used by the 15th AF Fighters.

Color shot of another 31st FG Spit VIII at the time they transitioned to the 51B. Note it has the yellow stripe on the outer wing similar to what the 51 is carrying.

The first photo also shows the 'name' nose art the 309th was using. I can't tell what that particular name is though. Also note there is no serial showing on any of these USAAF Spits.
The May 43 WZ-GG has the red surround. The other images are from 44 when they had removed to the red surround to the star and bar.
