MAN did I have a weird dream last night. It really spooked me. It was SO vivid I can recall exactly what the images described below look like… and if I could paint I could detail even the leaves on the tree still. I have never had a dream this vivid I could recall the next day, let alone be able to recount as many details as I can.
I was swimming maybe 100 yards offshore at a family cottage, though as in most dreams it was just that in name and familiarity in mind. Instead of a small lake with mucky bottom, and mostly flat land around, it was large and very hilly, and the lake was sand bottom.
The shoreline of the cottage was similar, though much larger. Looking out at the water was facing due west, with an airport on the other side of the lake, maybe ½ mile away. The runway of this airport went east-west directly, and in the dream the flight path for landing and takeoff were right over our cottage.
Looking at the cottage from the water there was a large (maybe 500 foot) hill going up, heavily wooded by large deciduous trees (some oaks topping 100 feet).
So here’s the dream:
Me and a buddy were there fishing and swimming all day. Near sundown a B25 (very similar to the one at the museum we went to at the CON) came in for a landing right over the cottage, “buzzing” me and said buddy possibly 200 feet overhead. It was a thrilling sight, and we watched him land.
The next morning the neighbor brought a new sailboat over, and was going to bring it down to the water later. It was sitting on his driveway at the top of the hill above the cottages. Where the boat was sitting was in a gap of the trees maybe 50-100 yards wide. It was almost the only way clear up the hill. This is significant later.
That morning the B25 was ready to head out to an air show we had learned, and went out a few hundred yards into the lake swimming to get a first hand close look at the plane flying over us. Planes routinely took off and landed on this route, and we mostly ignored them, but this being a WWII classic we had to go see it.
When the B25 took off, it was obviously heavy with fuel or something. He barely made the end of the runway before the water’s edge, and got gear up and leveled out right away. He was headed straight towards us at maybe 50 feet. We could feel the power of the engines and the prop, and we could see the water being agitated by the turbulence.
As he came nearer, we pumped our fists in the air and waved energetically, and the pilot actually got close enough for us to see him smile, and wave back proudly. He looked like a kind gentleman, obviously in his mid 50’s or higher, and defiantly like a pilot in the white scarf, leather jacket kind of way.
About the time he passed over us he started the climb over that hill ahead of him. The strain of the plane was a sight, and flying a sim, I could sort of feel the tension of climbing with such little power. It immediately dawned on me this was no Cessna, and getting over that hill and tree line was going to be a major feat.
Then it hit me, that sailboat with it’s huge mast sticking up was blocking the main break in the trees. OH MY GOD I screamed out, trying to warn the pilot of the danger ahead of him! We started frantically heading to shore in a vain attempt to get ahead of the plane and somehow flag him back or something.
We watched from behind as the plane climbed and entered about a 20 deg right bank towards the gap.
The rest is hard to type out in detail, but I could “feel” exactly what was going on inside the plane.
The pilot obviously noticed the obstruction in his path, and attempted to bank the hill, and head parallel to it. There was a strong headwind coming over the hill, but I couldn’t tell if that was helping his lift, or hurting his climb. Unfortunately he didn’t have enough power, and the plane began to stall over. Gradually at first, eventually getting past a 90 deg bank.
At that very moment my friend and I were almost running on the surface of the water trying to do something, anything to stop this disaster. My heart was racing, my chest pounding, and I was screaming NO, NO, NO!!!
The plane went past 90 deg, nosed over and slammed into the shoreline, the nose on the shore, and 80% of the plane in the water.
Remember this was a dream so not everything happened in a “realistic” matter.
The plane did not explode and disintegrate on impact. It kind of crumpled.
We reached the shore, and sprinted over to the plane, hoping to help that pilot if he was alive.
I am getting the shivers typing this, because I can feel the fear I had in the dream. I wasn’t scared of the plane, or it blowing up, I was scared of seeing a mangled body to be honest. I have a deep fear, and aversion to corpses, and in general open wounds. In the movies it is ok to see because I know it is fake, but real blood and guts I am very disturbed by, and have childish nightmare about the injury I see on someone else happening to me.
Anyway back to the dream:
My buddy and I are the only ones there. We can see the people on the airfield a mile across the lake running to the shore, and the emergency vehicles heading to the road around the lake. I am yelling “HELLO?” “ARE YOU STILL IN THERE?” to the plane, hoping for a response from the pilot, so I know he’s not all messed up and stuff. As I edge closer to the cockpit on the ground inverted in front of me, I see the glass in the front of it splattered with blood. I’m yelling my lungs out “HELLO?” not knowing what else to say, because I am afraid to say, “Do you need help?” fearing that seeing him injured would make me turn and run like a coward.
About 10 feet from the front of the plane, voice now strained, I’m begging in my mind for someone else to get there and help the pilot. I am embarrassed I am being a coward and not running into the wreckage to help.
SNAP I wake up, heart pounding faster than I can ever remember, throat sore like I was really screaming out for help.
I have been thinking about this all day.

Wacky man....

ug, and i thought my dream of the o'club being gone was bad.
-
Man, how are your dreams in such detail?
I usually dream of one of two things, neither of which are appropriate to type here.

Dont make me bust out the lucid dreaming stuff again.... :)

JB73,
I had a similar dream. I'd been researching a B24 crew for a long time and had pieced together all I could about what happened inside and out of their B24 on the day it went down. I'd talked to the survivors, read all the mission reports and talked to crewmen from the planes around it when it was hit and went down. I'd also had a flight in the Collings foundation B24 on the flight deck and had crawled around the inside of the aircraft so I knew the look and dimensions in my mind.
One night it all came together in a dream and it was frightening as I was in that plane watching it all unfold and there was nothing I could do to stop it and I was the only one knowing what was going to happen and the people I was near to on the flight deck were going to die.
I woke up absolutely spooked, it seemed so real to me.

thats part of what spooked me... this one was WAY more vivid than anything in my life.
there's even more detail about the crash itself i know, but too much to type and hard for me to put into words on a keyboard.

The human brain stores an unbelievable amount of tacit knowledge... stuff that you have knowledge of, but weren't aware of it. You know stuff you don't know you know :p The color of your 1st grade teacher's eyes, for example. You notice a TON of stuff and can replicate that in great detail when dreaming. Of course, it is impossible to dream of, say, the cockpit of an SR71 unless you have some memory or an idea of the cockpit.
73 had a memory of the B25 from the con, and obviously a great memory of the cottage area and lake, allowing him to see a ton of detail.
Just curious... 73, what did you eat yesterday?

a full medium pizza hut pan pizza with peporoni, green peppers and extra sause about 45 min before bed
seriously LOL thats why im fat hehehehhee
-
Thats the only thing, all day? :)
beverages?
Well, green peppers could be a source of an overactive nervous system. They have a ton of folic acid (B-complex). A supplement of B-vitamins keeps your nervous system sharp. Too much, and it *might* give you a light, over-sensitive sleep... not very restful. Good for dreaming though :)
-
ok rundown LOL
breakfeast: corned beef hash, egg, and hashbrowns
diet pepsi
diet pepsi
lunch: 2 terribly dry burritos and spanish rice
diet pepsi
diet pepsi
online flying till 9 or so about 4-5 more diet pepsi's
then the pizza
-
Holy soda batman! :D
Yeah, you had a ton of protein, and with that, plenty of B-vitamins. Eggs, beef, beans, rice, peppers, cheese, etc.
I bet you had some ripe gas when you got up too? :D
-
you guys need to lay off AH for a while.

why do fat people use diet food?
.... think about it..

The B-25 is an erection, the hills are a women's legs. You should see a shrink to get over your fears (ill founded or not) of impotence.

Sunday Night, I had a freaky Dream,
I had been racking my brain all night over the Oclub Diplomacy game, Earlier in the Night I had played War over Vietnam.
I had to wake up early Monday 400AM EST, But i had went to bed around 1AM.
My dream was very brief, I stood there studying charts, I must have been standing with my cabinet officials, listening to them blabber on, kind of reminded me of the Teachers from Charlie Brown Movies.
Next thing I know we all nod in agreement, then I stare at the Charts real hard. Instead of looking at the Diplomacy Map, it becomes a real image only still in the same perspective, A Birds Eye View of a Huge Strike Package. F-4's and F-105's mostly, They are careening at Canada at 500 mph. I can remember biting my nails, and sweating profusley, thinking to myself, This is it America is at war.
Then the Alarm went off, Time to go to work!

Dreaming of an airplane indicates of a search for freedom, adventure and advancement. You will be reaching higher levels of success, and sharper consciousnes. It might also fortell that you are about to escape from your daily routine and go in new directions. It might also indicate that it is time for you to go on a trip.
Dreaming that a plane crashes means that you have set overly high and unrealistic goals for yourself and are in danger of having it come crashing down. Alternatively, your lack of confidence, self-defSeeing or eating attitude and self-doubt toward the goals you have set for yourself is represented by the crashing airplane; you do not believe in your ability to attain those goals. Loss of power and uncertainty in achieving your goals are also signified.
Seeing a lake in your dream means your emotional state of mind. If the lake is clear and calm, then it symbolize your inner peace. If the lake is disturbed, then you may be going through some emotional turmoil.
Seeing a cottage in your dream, represents comfort, peace and serenity. You prefer a life of simplicity. The cottage may represent an altered sense of reality and thus may be a means of escaping the responsibilities and problems that may be associated with your home. You need to approach life's difficulties one at a time.
When you dream of an airport, the meaning of such dream may vary according to whether it is an empty or busy airport. A busy airport is an indication of ambitious new beginnings. Som ideas may have been maturing in your mind, and now it is time for you to put them to use. New relationships, new dimensions, different horizons, maybe that trip you were dreaming of. Dreaming of an empty airport might indicate some delays in your plans. It might be that you will have to change your travel plans, or you might see some old project you have beenworking on, delayed or postponed.
Seeing sand in your dream means a shift in perspective or a change in your attitude. Consider also the familiar phrase, "the sands of time" in which it may be suggesting that you are wasting your time or letting time pass you by. Seeing wet sand in your dream indicates that you are lacking a sense of balance in your life.
So, my, un-educated guess on what this says is..
Your running from your fear of corpses, and do not wish to see death in your life, or have seen, or will see. You don't want to loose something your are passonite in..
You feel helpless on this issue, and don't know what to do about it..
-shrug-
Hope this intrests you as much as it did me.

Dream predictions or meanings based on specific objects is a bunch of crap. It's not consistent for all dreamers and is definitely not compatible across various cultures and societies.
Sorry Hawk. Where did you find that info? It may work for individual, specific or personal cases, but a universal standard for dream symbols is not possible... unless we hardwire ourselves into the matrix of course!

I was dreaming that a giant bee was chasing me up the street and I stopped and jumped into a car. It was one of those classic fear moments where you can't move or talk. Then the car became a Super Corsair with a 4360-corncob engine. It and began flying thru the city skyscrapers, on autopilot. I tried to wrestle the stick away from the airplane, and ended up flying into an underground parking garage.
Suddenly I was on a vast snow covered plain. I was riding a horse as fast as I could because a crevasse was opening up behind me. It caught up to me and I fell into the crevasse, only to find myself on a beach in the tropics. I apparently was the only male, and a tall curvaceous redhead chose me to be her man - potato.
We went back to her place and we began getting down to business and she thought it would add to the pleasure by shoving a sharp pencil in my right testicle, I woke up and I still had the pain.
What do you think it means?

I do remember one dream well even today..
I was at on a large grass yard. I saw on two sides a low stone fence and on the other side of one side I saw a church, with a smallish graveyard behind it.
I was there on the yard with the priest and had a feeling there was supposed to be guests arriving soon on the yard due to some kind of an event.
Then I saw a red plane with some white lines coming. It seemed to have engine troubles and then turned to an approach course towards the yard.
It crashlanded on the yard.. pretty hard for just a plain ditch.
I ran towards the plane and the injured pilot got out of the plane... and after the next phrase i kinda woke up: "I think my nose broke"
It was quite a vivid dream, which bothered me throughout the day.
At the evening I went to search the news sites for any cases which would involve a crash or such.
Surprisingly there indeed was a case.. even with a picture from the site.
During the same day, just an hour after I woke up, there had been a crash in switzerland.
Two choppers had collided with each other and both had crashed down on a *football field* and in the picture I saw a *low stone fence* going along at least one side.
Plus the choppers were mostly painted red with some white.
Freakiest thing I've come across with dreams...
It was also odd how it bothered me enough to make me search a handful of news sites.

Testicular cancer. Better go get it checked.

It's always good to confront the fear in a dream, and avoid waking up before finding out what happens. Not always possible, due to not being able to sleep late, having to get up and go to work, etc...
If you can, try to see the dream through and not wake up due to "cowardice" in the dream. We are all cowards at some time or another in dreams. The exercise in dreaming is to face fears and defeat them. I've been shot, chased by monsters and even confronted by robots. Sometimes I get caught or killed. But sometimes whatever I need to deal with the problem magically appears. Or help comes. When it does it is always a beautiful woman, and not of this world either.
Another interesting thing I've heard about dreams, is everyone in the dream is you or a different part of you. I.e, the bad guy in a dream with a gun or trying to beat you up is actually you. That's a nightmare, because you are faced with defending yourself against yourself, you run or you kill the bad guy. It's an eye opener when you shoot someone that's going to, or at least you think they're going to shoot you in a dream. And where the heck did that 1911 .45 come from you have in your hand??? That's how dreams work.
The most vivid pleasant dream I've ever had was when the space woman took me to a space station under construction. It was the shape of the 2001 Odyssey space station, wheel shaped. I asked her how big it was. (We were in a section where the curvature was evident, with 100 ft wide corridors running the length of about 400 yards visible to me.) She said the station was about 50 miles in diameter, and she brought me up there to see it, though it was still under construction.
I woke up then, but it was so real I swear I was there.:) It was absolutely beautiful beyond description.
I dreamed that 5 years ago!!!
If I may take the liberty to be speculative here JB73, it sounds like you were the pilot of the B-25 Mitchell. You and your friend knew about the danger ahead and tried to warn the pilot, which was you. You may have crashed the plane because you are troubled about something and have a decision to make perhaps, and can't decide.
Anyway, dreams are always strange because it's when the subconscious is at full tilt, without the logic and restraint of the everyday conscious mind. Anything goes in a dream. It's how the brain reorganizes itself, and there's nothing to fear. To the contrary. Go with it.
The Spanish painter Goya described it best when he did an etching titled "The Sleep of Reason produces Monsters."

heh, dreamt i was drinking the worlds largest margarita one night....woke up next to the toilet bowl and the rim was covered with salt! ...glade i didnt eat the worm that night!!:rofl

Now I'll be accused of not taking my meds. But I have found that vivid dreams usually come true in some form or other. They don't always happen to me in the dreams. It's as if I was seeing it through someone else's eyes. The dreams are more or less like a low budget movie version of the real event. It gets really weird sometimes because I work as a movie extra so it's a bad movie version of a bad movie.
It sounds nuts but that's what happens. If someone would like to explain it, please do.
Now I'm not saying your B25 dream might happen. But who knows.............
The only dream I want is the one where I win the lotto, speaking of which. I must check my numbers for tonight's draw.!
NURSE.....! Where my lotto ticket? .
