Boston Herald endorses Bush (http://news.bostonherald.com/opinion/view.bg?articleid=49902)
Boston newspaper endorses Bush
Associated Press
Published October 20, 2004
Newspaper endorsements in the 2004 presidential campaign.
President Bush
The Boston Herald endorsed Bush on Oct. 20:
``While we are in the unusual position of doing so in the face of the candidacy of a native son, our choice was not a close call.
``Certainly, both John Kerry and George Bush love this country. ... But only one would never sacrifice principle for political advantage. One of these men says he craves the respect of the world. The other by his words and deeds commands it. ... John Kerry, who has served this state well in the U.S. Senate is in his bid for the presidency simply the wrong man, in the wrong place, at the wrong time.''
-
One of them does and the other one has this to say:
The Boston Globe endorsed Kerry on Oct. 17.
"These are challenging times for any leader. On the signal issues of this campaign — the Iraq (news - web sites) war and terrorism — Kerry is up to the challenge. ... He is best suited to heal our painful rifts now — not just with the community of nations but within this nation, rent by social, ideological, economic and religious diversions. These sap the strength of America. We are confident a Kerry presidency will restore both unity and strength."
The Boston Herald is considered to be a conservative tabloid, and would be as likely to endorse Kerry as Newsmax.

Actually the Globe hasn't been considered Kerry's friend, but it did give him the endorsement. Newspaper endorsements are typically predictable subber stamps unless the candidate is found to be a pedophile or cannibal, and are generally worthless, IMO.

Boston Herald - Circ. 248,988 ranked #49
Nice pull Rip. I bet the guy on the corner with a mimeograph machine endorsed Bush too.

The rankings are just indicative of the Boston demographics.
It's no secret that Boston is a liberal town.
It's also no secret that the Globe Retractor is a liberal fish wrapper.
The Herald is conservative.
Hence, more Globe circulation.

Got to admire Rip's stubborness though. He gets shot down over and over and over again. But he's still willing to post misleading and/or irrelevant crap.

I tried to steal Rip's Bush/Kerry sign from his front yard, but the sucker sicked his dog on me and I got arrested for fradulant vehicle registration, petty vandalism and a DUI.

When I lived in Boston, I read the Herald because of the Sports Section and sometimes Howie Carr. But that was about it.

Cut n Paste, it's everywhere! :rofl
