Internet, Aviation and Aces High Terminology and Abbreviations.
The purpose of this post is to create one source, a kind of dictionary, that can be used to look up Internet, aviation and Aces High terminology and abbreviations. Trainers and anyone else who is experienced with AH (Aces High) are encouraged to respond. To keep this post from becoming too cluttered, however, please limit responses to common terminology and abbreviations used in the game.
Three kinds of terminology and abbreviations maybe addressed in this post. For consistency, please use the following examples as a format:
1. Internet terminology and/or abbreviations, such as:
LOL = Laughing Out Loud
Disco = To be disconnected (from the game).
2. Aviation (general and military) terminology and/or abbreviations, such as:
AGL = Above Ground Level
Roll = A flight maneuver in which the plane turns over on its side to an upside down position and then on around to upright. Ailerons (right and left joystick) are primarily used for this maneuver.
Jabo = (Military) To use a fighter to attack ground targets with bombs, rockets and/or guns.
3. Aces High terminology and/or abbreviations, such as:
AH = Aces High (this game)
Drunks = Automated paratroopers who are dropped from a C-47 (or an M-3) in order to capture a field. Also known as goons or troops.

Rocket
Thanks again.
This is exactly the kind of 'gouge' or info that helps newbies to the game.
Keep up the good work!

Actually I believe a bogey is simply an unknown aircraft, not neccessarily (sp?) an unknown enemy a/c.
A bogey becomes a bandit when it is confirmed hostile.
-
I think it depends on the person.
Bogey can be an enema that is just outside icon range but shows hostile on dar. Or an enema in icon range but not a threat at this time. Where a bandit is a threat.
Contacts or Cons usually refer to the unknown dots popping up on the horizon and no way of telling what they are until you are within visual indicator range.
Different people will use the same term for different things. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Heres a new one, a guy named Mury from Warbirds comes over, (was Ezmury in WB's)..he asks me privately about Weazel, and where weazel is at, I tell him some info, he thanks me, and about 5 min later I shot Mr.Mury down (haven't flow the P51 for a long time, took me 3 passes), so, Mr. Mury slanders me on private, then I think he's kidding, type in "hehe", he continues ranting...I pay him a compliment and give him a <S> (Stands for Salute!) , and then, I learn new terminology...he gives me a <F> back,...guess what <F> stands for?!?
hehe, Some pilots egos, can't believe they can even fit those fat heads in the virtual cockpit!

Rip: it's good to see Mury hasn't changed. He made a post once on AGW that I took offence at, so I emailed him privately rather than continue the argument on a public forum.
You just wouldn't believe what he wrote back!
Now if he could graduate to 5 letter words he'd probably be a bit easier to understand (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
