and apparently so do many of my fellow Texans. Today was the 1st time I ever stood in line to vote. 20-30 people were ahead of me in line today. When I left the line was out the door. I expect a record number of ballots to be cast this year. Every state should offer this option.
The tally of my ballot? 10 Democrats and 1 Libertarian. I was going to vote for the Republican candidate for Tax Collector, but changed my mind at the last minute. I abstained from voting in 3 judicial races because they were unopposed Republicans.
-
All that work by your party and you only vote once?
-
same thing down here in houston, line out the door and its been that way for a week.
Oh and I cancelled out your vote :)
-
I've been trying to early vote for the last few days in Broward County FL. Lines are 3 hours long. Shook hands with Al Gore. Mom is mad. I'm going to try at 0630 hrs tomorrow, but I'm taking a soccer chair and a book.
-
So with early voting Election Day isn't really the day to vote just the last day to vote.

No early voting in my state, so no.

Austin TX I'm guessing, rpm?

Nash I live near Chico, Texas. A small town between Ft. Worth and Wichita Falls. It don't get much more country than this. Cows, horses, pigs....the whole 9 yards.

What is the idea behind early voting? Like why do it? Who is pushing it?

It gives you the opportunity to vote at your convenience. It starts 2 weeks before the election.
Last Saturday they had a polling place set up at WalMart and over 700 votes were cast. No one particular group is pushing it here. It is a truly bipartisan thing.
-
Interesting, I do not think my county or maybe Cali did it. I live right next door to the polling place.
-
If people are registering in record numbers to vote. And in Florida we've seen, read about the big ques. Plus a report that they are short some 500,000 volunters.
Are there concerns on the day that people won't vote due to long ques? Also I was suprised that it isn't mandatory to vote.
I bet the lawyers are queing up too for all the law suits and cases once voting finishes.

I almost didn't vote for Rick Santorum and abstain from that category, but I viewed it as the lesser of two evils.
A.) Have Rick Santorum in office
B.) Have a democrat controlled Senate.

The RNC strategy is to hassle every voter over their eligability to vote, causing lines to come to a standstill and folks to just leave. (if you wanna hassle me about that, wait until Tuesday eve or Wednesday morning pls). In a nutshell, yeah, there are concerns.

AKIron.....
This coming from the folks that have Dick Tracy and Mary Poppins registered.
Don't even bother Bud.....Alot of people and I'd say even the majority that are not in this country , and , probably half that ARE in this country...wont ever ever have a good thing to say. IF Kerry wins , we can just watch a bigger decline. At least we know we didn't put him there.:(

Hmmm.....seems I saw on NBC Ed Gillespi (sp) head of the RNC say that is was the Democrats. Could be wrong...I have read more and listened to more in the last few weeks in this political season than I ever have.:lol
-
Hmmm.... Saw this on news tonight.
Exit polling of early voters currently has it:
Bush 53%
Kerry 46%
Nader 1%
My regards,

Just tell them youre a Republican and youll be hussled to the front of the line, then. :D
Dont let them smell the Socialist hippy on you though... we can smell it a mile away... and well meet you by your car... with a wrench to fix your "problem."

The wife and I voted early but it was out of necessity for us. We won't get to our "home" state until December so voted absentee early. They even paid the postage on it. :)
-
I voted early/absentee.....but my vote sadly did not count :(
I did not have a pen on my desk to SIGN the envelope for the ballot and was gonna mail it off the next day. The one time my wife decides to do something nice for me she mails off my envelope for me.....UN SIGNED!
PS I voted Badnarik....Bush will take Texas easily and I want to see more third party canidates next time!

Sorry Guns, but the irony is classic. :aok

Kerry's backers wanted to bring in the UN to supervise. Cold day in hell....

Well...maybe you misunderstood me....I voted for the incumbent as well, so that makes it 4-1 by my count.
Its a landslide!!! 4 more years!!!

We have it in NM too. Voted last Tues., line was out the door of the court house the only hitch is the R's are accusing the D's of limiting the early voting sites as most early voters in NM vote R...... Also of note my Shift partner has been tring to Early vot for 3 days, and Hasn't found a line less than 3 hrs long yet.......
Gunns,

Ah, So you haven't seen it. Haven't been here but declare yourself able to detect a fraud. Wonderful, now why don't we just let you decide who should win while we're at it?
Keep on preaching the line Vidkun.

No you didn't use the word fraud. You just posted and example of it. Here it is in your own words.

5 - 1
Voted last week.
LANDSLIDE BUSH!!!!!!!!!!
oh, and you know the funny thing, there was this gimey little college group handing out flyers to say that if Bush was reelected there would be a draft. Some old guy spoke up when they started pestering him and said that it was indeed the democrats that introduced it in congress. They started to harass him more, until a lot of people in line said it was true...
They headed off dejected and littering by dropping several hundred flyers on the ground...

So you responded to a piece of sarcasm and drew the conclusion that voting is flawed and fraudulant. Nice leap there. Still no actual experiance here though huh.
