Title: BTX Form Factor

I'm in a dilemma. The time to upgrade is fast approaching. PCI Express is here, 4g processors are here (nearly) along with the newest graphics cards and SLI.

BUT where is BTX? I don't think there are ANY boards yet, and I had read that there was considerable consumer and manufacturer resistance due to the complete change it will entail.

Anybody got any info? I would like to build a new machine into my existing Coolermaster ACT210, but if BTX arrives it'll be no good.

It was supposed to have been released this year; but I haven't heard any rumblings on the distribution to use builders about BTX form factors. Its going to be good but its going to take a while just like it took AT boards a long time to finally disappear from the market.

BTX is useless, and Intel only, i doubt you will be seeing it for a LONG while

I suspected that was the case given the silence lately on the whole thing.

nForce4 SLI, a pair of 6800GTs, an Athlon64 FX-55 and a couople gigs of Corsair memory.  That should do ya :)

A form factor isn't going to be strictly for one CPU type over another. It can't be that way since it is going to become an industry standard. In some ways BTX is going to be both a step forward and a step backwards to the days of daughter cards and risers for adding in video cards, sound cards, etc... Those will be for the low end systems from what I have heard since we will also have new power supplies coming out to support the newest BTX standards soon but they will be able to work on both ATX and BTX motherboards. Look for ATX to stay with us for as long as 3-5 more years before BTX becomes the motherboard standard of choice.
