I started out to work this morning noticing something I bit different about my improvised Bush/Cheney sign… it was just a bit pulled up on the leg nearest to the house so I inspected further.
I caught one! The one blade just under the bottom horizontal bar next to the leg had rather odd look to it. I guess dried blood. I confirmed by giving the area around it a bit more scrutiny, yup, a few drops on the sidewalk that seemed to increase in quantity a bit the further away from the sign. Finally in the street were what appeared to be a rather good sized area of droplets and a small diameter “pool”. At this I began to laugh pretty hard. Hell even at this moment at work I’m still chuckling about it.
Interestingly enough though 1) I still have my sign but had to push the end back down 2) it doesn’t appear that I have any additional property damage and the police have yet to contact me.
I’ll score this one as a “catch and release” LOL
I can just hear the lamentations now from the poor bastige that made the mistake of coming back! I can’t stand it. Today, is a good day. Justice has prevailed!! :D

That's amazing. Good for you, you injured someone over two pieces of wood and laminated paper. You are a hero. Go you!

Not that I am in favor of a "booby trap" that can injure the perpetrator but there is another angle here.
I suppose the person who trespassed with intent to commit a theft or vandalism has no blame in this either in your mind. That also doesn't mention the freedom of speech issue here. It seems that freedom of speech in wulfies mind only applies to speech he is in favor of. Very unbiased of you. I suppose Zippatuh should have gotten your permission to express his opinion on his own property before he had the audacity to place a sign. Yep that's very "liberal" of you.
BTW did he use a #6 or a #8 hook to land you?:p
-
A virtual hook? I hope so, better than real razor blade wounds.
As for this :

Gotta be a troll, considering you use to be a police officer.

I hope you are kidding. I have to agree the the pinheads on this one. That's just plainly wrong. If it bothers you wait up for them and kick their arses like man instead of that nasty booby trap.

BTW what is the bag limit on Democrapic Vandals?

You mean like the manly way the walked up to his sign in broad daylight to steal it?
I love hearing about criminals getting schooled.

Nice of you to omit the very first line of my post there. BTW if you'd stop flopping around so much the hook wouldn't sting so bad.
-
I saw it, but then you go onto mentioning freedom of speech.
Glaring problem, freedom of speech ends where the other persons face begins. Which is why I presumed it was a troll, because I thought a cop would know that.
-SW
-
So in your opinion it's acceptable to go onto anothers personal property and remove that persons expression of THEIR speech on THEIR OWN property???????? Just where does the property owners nose end? Where does the trespassers nose end. In this case I guess you think the trespasser has the right to impress his speech on the property owner since it is the same opinion as your own.
Freedom of speech ends on anothers property in this case don'tcha think.
Keep wiggling the hook only gets deeper. :lol
-
No, I don't - you are just interjecting that because that's what you WANT to read.
A sign of two pieces of crappy wood and crappy laminated paper is worth sliced fingers, stiches, and a tetanus shot?
Someone takes a quarter from me, I can bash him with a baseball bat - I mean, it was my quarter.
Maybe you just need to give up on the idea you have about me, because it's all wrong and full of presumptions you just hope are true.

AKS , how many stitches did ya need :D

While I don't necessarily agree with your political position, I can't find fault with your tactics.
Vandals suck.
:aok
-
Still goes back the same situation. If the person whos finger got cut had not let their nose lead them to trespass and attempt to steal / vandalise a sign, which BTW is an expression of the property owners freedom of speech, that afor mentioned finger would not have gotten cut.
You mentioned freedom of speech ends where the other persons face begins. Please explain how the trespasers face extends onto the property owners property and the property owner's face does not. I can't wait for this one.
Lastly in this post, I do not troll. Zipatuh on the other hand does.
-
Ha ha ha...WTG
The only problem I have with this is you run the risk of injuring a little kid that's not being political just being vandilous and doesnt know any better. Yes his parents should have raised him better but still.
Wolf you continually prove that freedom of speech to liberals is only when you are bashing a president. If this guy is will to shell out money when he gets sued for liability then that's his bag.
I think rips idea of dog poop is better though. That and maybe attach one of thos mini sirens to it that have a ear peircing scream when it's moved.
-
Property is not freedom of speech, it's ownership.
You were talking about the sign being a freedom of speech, not the property.
Of course, you don't know how far the sign was placed - if he isn't trolling - from the edge of his property.
His freedom of expressing his support ends when he turns that expression into a weapon of sorts.
Why couldn't it be skunk spray? I'd use that, it's hell to get off too.
I took issue with your posts because you defend creating booby traps designed to injure with that paragraph you stated.
By that logic, anyone that wanders onto my property could be subject to a katana blade popping out of the ground.

Fence sitter pointing fingers is a better description. That way your ego is never wrong.

Yes Ripsnort, that's it. Choosing a side is better, because then I can have my beliefs told to me.

I remember the post saying you were gonna do it, can't believe you actually did. That's pretty funny. Next time though, it might be better to put up the sign (w/o razors), and a wireless camera. D-Link makes some nice pan-tilt models packaged with a pretty good motion detector & time-lapse recording software. The first few times you're arrested, it's a whole lot scarrier than just needing some stitches imho. Plus, no razors = no liability. Don't get me wrong, the salamander deserved it, but lawsuits get expensive... probably more so than alittle revenge is worth.

my thought on it is this...
While it is fun to kick his butt face to face.... It never hurts to let him bleed out a while first.

I'm gonna make a Nader sign tonight.

didn't the democrats get an injunction against displaying nader signs? something about the election being too important to allow any interferance to kerries run?

You are correct that ownership is not an opinion. However he used his property to place a sign that expressed his opinion. Is this not permitted? Please explain how the person who (a) trespassed has the right to do so, (b) and attempted to steal / vandalize said sign had the right to do so. How does the placement of the sign on the property owners own property factor into the "right" to trespass / vandalize/ steal?
"Skunk spray" is also a weapon. Is that not a "bad thing" as well as the razor blade? Does the property owner have a "right" to skunk spray to defend their freedom of speach on their own property?
Lastly I did not defend the use of a booby trap. Re read the first line of my first post on this thread. Then re read the second line. I did not state the "defender" has no blame. I countered your implied position that the tresspasser / vandal / thief had no blame in this situation.
Now would you like my pliers to help get that darn hook out of your mouth???? ;) :p :)

I take offence to this, “crappy wood and crappy laminated paper”?
The firs sign was “inexpensive” thin gauged wire.
The second sign is steel, made to endure the weather, and used as a rent sign. Now, the paper that is taped to it, I didn’t print it so I’m really not sure what the quality level is but it looks like they used good ink.
Staying the hell off of my property and letting me be is worth the stitches. Tetanus shot? I used new double edged blades right out of the box. If I really wanted to be mean I would have covered them in my dogs crap before installing them.
It’s just stitches, tetanus shot isn’t necessary but always a good idea if you haven’t had one in the past 7 years LOL.
Oh, and about the quarter, the first sign cost me $8 plus shipping. The steel for rent sign cost me a lot more. Therefore from your reasoning with the baseball bat and the quarter; you actually condone my actions. Thanks!
-
i actualy voted for booby traps before i voted against them.
-
Zippatuh, I thought it was a crappy sign because that's all I see in my neighborhood. I actually have the luxury of waking up everyday to see a crappy Kerry sign that's about the size of a clothes dryer staring me in my face, mocking me that my neighbors are so gullible to believe his tripe.
I still won't agree with the unnecessary force, I don't see everything black and white so certain actions deserve certain consequences. Going for election year sign on your property, I think a nice stink that stays on them unless they take a bath in tomato paste is good enough.
Maverick, while trespassing is illegal - so are booby traps and vandalizing (actually, this would be stealing I think)... would they cancel each other out?
Even you know that there is a limit to force for each area. You can't shoot someone that wanders onto your property, but if they break into your home you can take them down.
Skunk spray is just a horrible smell, it isn't mace or pepper spray - how can it be considered a weapon?
-SW

I'll give this troll an 8, you hooked a few, wtg. It was almost a 9, requiring hip boots.
-
we need photographic evidumce!
-
THE fool who got cut ill bet ya doesnt eventhink/know what cut him/her accept that they got cut and ran off!
They deserved it! you can put up a barbed wire fence around your house and if some one climbs it and gets cut! its there fault the fence is there to keep them out!
-
Yep it would have been a little better if you had found a fingertip. That would have been a 9.
-
No, No, NO!!!!
Resolutions could have worked.
1st get the Neighbourhood Litmus test and a 2/3rds Majority approval.
Then get the blind Neighbours from way across the street to come in and inspect for WMD's (Wimpy Materials of Display).
Confront the Vandal and issue umpteen resolutions followed by hollow threats.
Then after the Vandal steals...ummm lets say 122 signs. Recall all the blind Neighbours, that were supposed to be watching, back to their own Neighbourhood. Because the blind Neighbours know that the Vandal was never a threat.
At this time get 3 or 4 of your buddies and go over to the Vandals house and burn it down.
Then declare that the Neighbourhood is now alot safer than before.
Taaaa~Daaaaa...
BTW I would have shot the bassturd on the first night, thrown a rock thru my window and claimed it was a home invasion. But that's just me.
:D

Bet it was Al Gore! :D
Check his fingers for bandaids on Nov 3rd when he starts screaming and pointing "See? See??? He did it AGAIN!!!!!"
:rofl

Wow... all the guy needs is a lawyer and he'll never have to work another day in his life.
-
1. The sign was stolen.
2. I did replace it with rally signs in my windows the next day.
And…
3. I believe I’ve caught my limit here according to the fish and wildlife commission. Got a few small ones but got a few big ones as well.
I’d say all in all it was a pretty good fishing trip! I’m just not sure if I should use skewers or filet the catch.
Sorry Skuzzy, I know this is probably against the new rules but I needed something to get out of the monotony.
:aok Bush 04!

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree on this one.
A fly-by-night vandal, in my opinion, deserves no such respect. Of course it bothers the homeowner that somebody would creep onto their property, after dark, to deface a harmless sign... However, staying up and waiting for a chivalric confrontation is giving the offender too much dignity. He acts like a coward, let him be dealt with impersonally. Plain and simple.

LOL Zipp.. WTG. Fugg the trespassing thieves. In some states, you can shoot trespassers who are stealing.
Watch out for neighbors w/ bandaged hands.. you'll likely discover the perpetrator.

Zippatuh,
Good for you!
and I mean that in spite of what the goody goodies are saying here
served the yakoff who kept stealing it right.
Beauty of it too is you will now be able to easily identify who did it by the bandage on the hand.
Now if I were you and came across him I wouldnt do anything more then say "Oh wow! What did you do to your hand?"
Just to see what his ready made excuse is gonna be. Cause you just know he isnt gonna say "I got it sliced up while trying to steal a sign"
Again I still wouldnt confront him with anything. Just walk away and chuckle to yourself.
I suspect you wont be having any more problems.
Also suspect he wont be stealing any more signs
what with being emotionally and physically scarred now and all that. :aok
