You give them 5 or 6 screens to look at, put them in the water into badguy territory and
they write a movie in their mind.
Sort of like reading a book, it's all in between the ears.
I'm afflicted with the disease since Aces of the deep
Spring of 2005, break out your periscopes. It's time again.
Screenshots from beta..

OMFG does that sun look real in that last pic!!!
wow amazing what computers can do nowadays
-
nice screenies...

Top shot looks like King George V class BBs and the middle shot looks like a sinking Bismark class BB.
Don't know about the subs. I'm more of a battleship guy.;)
In Silent Service II I used a Gato class sub to engage a Yamato class BB in a gun duel. It was, er, a short fight. Very short.

there is NO WAY that last pic is from the game. absapositutly no F*ING WAY
but it would be super cool if it was...

Yeah it does. Even the water looks incredible.
I've never heard of this game but I might just have to check it out.
-
I would like AH's sun to look like that :)
It's a tad big right now.

Amazing what programmers and game engines can do nowadays, I think it's remarkable:aok

Its a shame that you can only play German subs. I can't wait util they release another one in the series that lets us play as US. In the mean time I have been enjoying some time on the surface in a naval sim called Enigma: Rising Tide.
AH still rules the sky when it comes to flying though.

Hopefully the career mode will be dynamic like the first one, not mission based like the second..

I've owned most of the submarine games, but my favorite was the least impressive for graphics. Any remember Microprose's ancient game, The Hunt For Red October?
That game came out around 1987. It raised howls from the DOD who recognized some of their secret technology in the game. Of course, the game maker just made educated guesses and hit the mark too close for the Navy's comfort.
Of all the sub games out, this one could teach you the finer points of modern sub tactics like no other. Eventually, the Navy recommmended the game to its own submarine officers as a use-at-home training tool...
Better games eventually appeared, but none of them offered a better platform for tactics.
My regards,
Widewing

SHII rocks as a sub sim. Destroyer Command is fun also.
Vicker's MOD really made it ROCK! Oil slicks, smoke, fire, brass
ejection, just to name a few.
HFRO I played on my Commodore 64 :D Way kewl for it's time.

If I remember correctly Oleg fell into this one. He bought the rights to Silent Hunter II. It was less than expected when released but it kept selling....and selling. It's STILL selling.
The community introduced lots of mods. The wolfpack league was formed and it just kept going.
On my old machine I had SHII with all the mods. 1024 conversion mod. Sound mod with all 'Das Boot' sounds in German that ROCKED. Weather mods, campaign additions etc.
Not fair to compare a "one person" boxed game with a Dev team numbering twenty five on Eastern European salaries to an online flightsim.
Be nice to decipher the water effects tho ;)
If your into subs, here's the sub central place to go for latest info on games. It's where I got all the mods for SHII

I am going to have to check this out.

Water + a few objects (boats and ****) + a few environment sprites/polies and lights = very hard to manage.
clap clap, revolutionary.
-
There is a very cool, sub game already out there. Enigma -rising tide. All voice commands which suprisingly works very well.
here's the link.

I haven't played SHII in awhile, yet when Destroyer Command
came out it added multi-player to SHII. 8 people max tho, and
still excellent graphics!!
