Title: My Florida work week...
Post by: NUKE on November 01, 2004, 07:30:24 PM
Fishing for Sailfish was a bust, but still had a blast and caught some stuff......

.... chartered a boat from Key Largo.

This here's me with a Red Snapper.

I ended up with only a Mackerel and the snapper. My "boss" Don caught a Mackeral, a Grouper, a very large sucker fish, and a Red Sanpper.

I did get some pretty nice pics of the ocean also.

I swear, pulling up that snapper was kinda tough even though it looks small.

Tough life.

PS: That fish doesn't look small to me.

The old fisherman's trick. When getting yer picture taken, extend your arms outward and position your fish as close to the camera as possible.

Dang... I feel like I'm breaking some kind of sacred fisherman's code. :D

I'll deal with the Karma in the spring I'm sure.

(seriously tho, I dunno about that type of fish, but it looks decent to me.)

the snapper was 210 feet and it almost killed me :)

We busted on the Sailfish and then headed for some wrecks to get some action. Was a long, fun day.

try inshore fishing this time a year

got a grand slam (snook, trout & redfish) on light 10lb spinning tackle out of a kayak in the backwaters around North Port this past Saturday

cooler temps (under 80 at night) brings them up on the flats

I went ocean fishing 3 times. Once was off L.A., and we caught Halibut. Not sure what the hell that was all about. They did have beer for sale, but it would have been way funner if they would have had a contest who could real in a heavy door mat contest, and gave the winner the beer for free. Then once at Boca Raton. Got into a school of Dolphin fish, was like pulling in a lure. They sold them at the dock, I felt used.

Best was in Acapulco, where we caught sail fish. $70 I think to charter the boat, 2 of us, and when we caught over the limit, they still beat the **** outta them and still put them in the boat.

All fun and stuf, but gimme a good 20lb Wisconsin Carp on a Zebco 202. You have to change reals at the end of the day.

Wrong time of years for sails down there, but if they took ya'll to 200' water, they just wanted to wear you out.  No matter, the fun is being out there, regardless of the fish caught.

It's not the size of the fish, it's the motion of the ocea, err, strenght of the mussle..

Muscle rather..

Ya the inside fishing is where you should be now.  I'm waiting for the 1st cold snap to see about some king mackarel.  that was a nice snapper but didn't look to be a keeper.  No yellowtails were biting? or were you outside the whole trip?
