Title: Can't run 2.01
Post by: daddog on November 01, 2004, 10:27:42 PM
Just reformatted my HD and put on a clean version of XP the other day. Went to work and downloaded all the XP updates SP2 etcetera. Nice having a T1 at work. :) Downloaded the new version of AHII and installed it. Every time I start it before I even get the opening screen I get the little window that Microsoft uses to tell you there was an error and asks you if you want to send them a report. It says aceshigh.exe has encountered a problem… blah blah blah.

I have uninstalled AH and reinstalled it, but get the same problem. My son has a system that is about identical to mine. I set up our little network between our systems and put the AH install I was using on his. Installed it over his existing AH version and it worked like a charm so I know it is not a corrupt download.

Then I remembered I had not installed DirectX and had a copy of Dx9.b Installed that, restarted and still no joy. Installed the latest drivers for my Geoforce 4 Ti 4400 also directly from Nvidia (was about 12 megs). Still the same Microsoft error. What am I forgetting? Do I need to format again?

Any ideas?

Just figured it out. Was peeking in Device Manager and noted I had to reinstall the onboard Legacy sound drivers and some USB control drivers. XP did it for me and now it is working. :)

Tomorrow night I will setup my CH gear and drivers and finally give it a try. :)
