Title: Dueling Arena questions?
Post by: TDeacon on November 02, 2004, 06:56:55 AM
Some questions from a newcomer to the Dueling Arena:

1)  Are there any recorded rules for DA usage, and where?

2)  In particular, what are the conventions w.r.t. altitude limits, both on the first pass, and subsequently?

3)  Is there a way to limit the participants to a pre-determined, fixed number?

1) No (other than anything written in the MOTD, thats it).

2) Up to you and your opponent.  Different starting alts by choosing starting fields (low, medium or high), but whether you stay there or not depends on your agreement with your opponent.  Once you merge, there are no rules.  This isnt a test of aircraft tolerances, its a test of your ACM vs his/her ACM, and how well each of you knows the plane you are flying.  Good luck.

3) No.

most times A1 is a FFA ( free for all ) along with A2 in the DA......anything goes at these 2 fields and you can be shot down by a friendly icon just as easy as an enemy icon.......some will give a check 6 before engaging you to let you know they are about to pounce you.........some won't

rules are agreed upon by you and your opponent ( opponents in 2 vs 2 or bigger duels) rule of thumb is when dueling you are guns cold first merge/pass then anything goes

there is no setting to limit the number, but you can fly from what ever 2 fields you pick, and request others to stay out of your duel/fight.......this being the DA most everyone will follow your request and respect your 1  vs 1 duel without interfering
