Networks learn their lesson? LOL Doubt it.
Im sure they will be calling it early and often only with lots of disclaimers "As of right now it appears" and stuff like that.
What I think is more likely is one candidate declaring victory well before all the votes are counted

I heard this morning that CBS actually bragged about being the LAST network to call the Primary results in Wisconsin. I think you'll see more caution tonight.

I watched Rather last night and he said they would prefer to be last to report than wrong.
NBC is also covering their tracks after their debacle calling the last election. HERE (http://msnbc.msn.com/id/6385064/) is a good read on how they have changed their prediction process.

Hmmm... I think I like Slate's position on this:
Slate believes its readers should know as much about the unfolding election as the anchors and other journalists, so given the proviso that the early numbers are no more conclusive than the midpoint score of a baseball game, we're publishing the exit-poll numbers as we receive them. Some people say it's irresponsible to publish the numbers—or broadcast early projections of winners—because it may disturb voter turnout. As Slate Editor Jacob Weisberg put it in today's Times, he doesn't want to put the Web site "in the paternalistic position of deciding that our readers aren't mature enough to react in the proper way to truthful information we possess."
