Title: Poss B24 Prob

Look like skin is set to 'shiny' in the model.
Very early stages but not much point carrying on if this is result.

Yep, I noticed that as well.  But, Im assuming it is shiney because the default skin is bare aluminum, and the shineyness makes it better.

I don't know of anything to do.

But please, finish it up!  Its looking great and I'd love to see the finished product. :)

Thats that I guessed also.
Would have thought after all the complaints about the 'shiny' B17 skin that they would have listened.
Obviously not.
Just means that they are limited to bare metal skins, anything else looks stupid.
Not gonna bother finishing it, doesn't look right.

I guess once the new P38 comes out, we will have the same problem.

One thing at at a time.  Pyro/HT or someone had mentioned the amount of shineyness or shimmer would be adjustable at some point.  A little more time.

Yup just spoke to Doug, they will implementing some kind of flag we can set to turn off the specularity (shinyness) attribute.

Ah.  This will be a very cool feature to have.  Now we can have dirty, weathered birds and shiney, clean aluminum birds. :)

specular.... heh that the word i was looking for :)

Instead of turning specular on and off 100%, would it be possible to handle it like an alpha layer for varying degrees of specularity?

No Octavius -
We talked about this and it will on or off, no in-between.
I suggested something like they use in FS2004. A bitmap with an alpha layer. The model itself is set as shiny and the alpha layer is used to control if the shinyness shows through. But they are worried about the size of the texture files doubling.

Yup, he also said they are looking into some way of viewing the planes without having to load in the whole of AH2.
