Title: Exit Polls
Post by: -MZ- on November 02, 2004, 03:43:22 PM
Major media organizations are withholding their exit poll data until after polls close.

However, Slate is publishing them as soon as they get them.

Their site is very slow today, but they are the only ones I have seen who have it:

Early Exit
A squeaker!
By Jack Shafer

The first wave of exit-poll data reaching my desk comes from a variety of sources. In some states the sources disagree about the specific margin by which a candidate leads, but never about which candidate is out in front. Some of the confusion may stem from the mixing of morning exit-poll numbers with early afternoon numbers. With those provisos and the understanding that the early numbers are predictive of nothing without their accompanying computer model, here's what I've heard:

Florida
Kerry  50
Bush   49

Ohio
Kerry  50
Bush   49

Pennsylvania
Kerry 54
Bush 45

Wisconsin
Kerry 51
Bush 46

Michigan
Kerry  51
Bush   47

Minnesota
Kerry  58
Bush   40

Nevada
Kerry  48
Bush   50

New Mexico
Kerry  50
Bush   48

North Carolina
Kerry  49
Bush   51

Colorado
Kerry  46
Bush   53

Other exit-poll results have arrived in more vague form, with Kerry leading Bush in New Hampshire but trailing him in Arizona and Louisiana.

Curious how exactly exit polls work.
I know they arent the be all endall of the election.

Are they subject also to the same  + -  3-4%margin of error?

Thought it was hilarious yesterday when I watched a report on 6 different polls. What was so funny was that the +/- margin for error, percentage wise, was exactly the percentage it took to cancel them out and level  it to 50/50.

Yea, Ann Coulter has already informed us the Democrats conspired to skew the exit polls in order to depress the Bush vote :D

I love conspriracy theories - they're so much more fun than  reasonalbe explanations  (like the polls were just wrong, as they have been wrong in the past).

But who could argue with Ann, she's such a cutie :)

LOL Nash :D

True, the place where that perticular boat is mored is norways largets intersection and the uglyest place you will ever find in our country. _Remember this_...... if you EVER come to norway then stay clear of this place. Its called Drammen and you wont find an uglyer place on this planet.

Here you have the boat from another angle:
