I know the lamers who think that an unknown axis bomber is so needed will scream bloody murder but from what I have seen in the main arena... we love flying american bombers because they have lots of defensive guns and carry lots of bombs.
getting 30 player missions in low level ploesti style liberator raids is a total blast and the b24 has the power to get in to the target and do damage with its heavy defenses and payload.
and thats what was missing from the bomber gameplay.
somthing new that can kick bellybutton that people are familiar with and want to fly.
build new bombers and people will fly them. the new bombsite is noob friendly and higher alt bombing is fun again.
so now as HTC is contemplating their next move and since the MA is the bread and butter and not the CT...
I cast my vote for the B-25 Mitchell because of its historic and nostalgic value and its wide selection of variants.
the a26 invader is more powerful but the B-25 is so symbolic of american air power in world war 2.
HTC hooked me back into flying bombers with the B-24 and the more enjoyable bomb siting system. I hope they run with it and offer more powerful American bombers. because lets face it. there are no axis bomber squads. why kid ourselves and pretend that there are? every bomber squad in AH is an american Iron bomber squad because americans love american bombers.
hehe I am feeling patriotic after voting yesterday :D

and the fact that the snub nosed 75mm cannon armed b25H requires almost no modification other than on the nose... hehe so much fun.
-
I second that nomination!

If the Pac planeset is going to develop then the B25 is a must.
However, there are glaring wholes in the planeset that need to be filled to give ToD the greates possible chance for success.
For Pac the Japanese need Betty.
They need a A6M3 and a KI-43.
The US needs an earlier variant p38. They need a p39d.
A B25 would fit right in and it would not be a bad choice but if I were to to prioriitize I would place it 5th or 6th.
With the
A6m2
A6m5
Niki
and by adding the
A6m3
The IJN would have a decent planeset.
With the
Ki-61
and now with the
Ki-84
The IJAAF still has a way to go.
Adding a
Ki-43
and a
Betty
Would go along way.
But you can't forget that most of the US and USN planeset is late war.
Adding an early Variant
P38
and a
P39D
Would go along way.
After all that the B25 could be squeezed in.
:p

I love the B-25, and I would like to see alsoo:
Wellington.
Beaufighter.
He-111
SM-79
P39D and Q
Halifax
A bomber version of the Mosquito
-
if it was up to me i would have add the B25 instead of the B24 or B26.. but since we have those 2 i see no need for the B25 in the near future.. (For the MA that is)
So..
NO B25 for you.... Come back one year!
now what about a betty or a He111? :p
-
wake me up when we get a 190D11 and P51H/47M to go with it.
or an Re2005.
-
Mosquito BIV.
After all it could carry the bombload of a B17, but faster :)
Arguably the best, most flexible bomber of WW2.
Failing that the next one should be a He111.
Glaring omission.
-
What... You think you cand have B-25?! Please... your waisting everyones time, NO B-25 FOR YOU!!!!
-
I would like to see the HE 111 next, then bring on the b-25,and the Betty . Bring on the Buff Wars !!! woooo hooo

B25 is nice
but can wait till we not get more axis and russian stuff
its time for DO17/he111
-
HIjackERS!!!!!
-
which axis buff squad needs a new bomber?
-
the Ct needs new bombers now. You MA boys got your buff now we want ours.
-
its up fom axis squad on MA? first to heore
many events we play is based on 1940-1943
how long one and only one choice should be ju88?
correct me if im wrong, but so far AH have only 2 axis bombers with 2 engines, 3 with one engine (im not counting 190f)
compared to allies thats mean nothing and not cover our SEA needs
Same for VVS
NONE 2 engine VVS bomber (of cours we can count boston/A20, but thats not the same)
Eastern and pacific fronts are worst covered by the planes from all stages of ww2.
Id like to see b25h in AH2 too , but not now
-
ty for calling me lamer ;P
-
Would this be a Good Luftwaffe Buff? :aok
JU188 (http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/LRG/ju188.html)

I would like to see B-52 in this game :P

The B25 was flown by the U.S.A., Australia, China, Netherlands, Soviet Union(870 of them), and the RAF. Also Brazil, Mexico and and Italy after they changed sides.

thats the point
we need AXIS bombers not allies
-
Fester, you have it backwards. Its not that there are no Axis bombing squads because we all LOVE the american buffs, its because there ARE no axis bombers (except for the not very formidable JU88). Admitted, the american bombers are more fun to the average player, because you get the most flash and bang, plus lots of guns to shoot with, but how can there be an Axis strategic bombing squad with the current planeset?

I vote B-25!
For Germans---Ju-52 -Axis transport.Although japanese had licensed version of the C-47 (Tabby).
For Japanese --Gekko(Irving) or Dinah attack version this would give the japanese a twin engine fighter bomber.
For Italy the Sm-79 bomber.
For the British.-Bristol Beufighter fo antishipping.
-
B25 was also flown by Free French Forces.
If we had it, the HE-111 and the Do 17 in the MA, I would pick the B25 every time.
Scenerios need the early Axis bombers more then the MA but the numbers are in the MA.

HE 111 is a well known bomber, just maybe not to americans since it was not really bombing the UK anymore once the americans finaly entered the war....:p
the only reason everyone likes american bombers is they are "uber" just like people that fly La7s, P51s and Niks.... oh and 24/7 daylight and pin point Radar in MA renders all other bombers useless.
does that mean they should be left out? no...
from a modeling point of view i think a HE111 would be rather easy??? its small.

Ahem. Ki-67.

A Do217 will rock too!
it was a german heavy bomber... oh and give us a glide bomb load out too! :)
-
Hey Pyro.... you still got that B-25 color plate I gave ya?
It's not too late...he's still alive and went flying last month!
-
Fester..i had a great tiem on th ploesti raid..
whish i woudl see more of those..
I wish more peopel woudl work on flying formation in here..
I wish TOD was out..
Yes B-25 H woudl be a sweeeeetttt Anti Ship..but more used as a anti GV ..dam the would slplode nicley..If you coudl hit one
But screw that..I think I would rather have the H-129 ..that was a true Gun ship

Ju188
320-350mph
6,000+lbs bombs
1 Mg151 20mm cannon in nose
1 MG151 20mm cannon in top turret
1 MG131 13mm MG in rear canopy
1 MG131 or 1 MG81Z (twin 7.92mm) in belly
Fast, big bomb load, and good defensivec armament. This is the next bomber we need in AH and it will be great in the MA and CT/Scenarios...
-
I agree with GRUNHERZ. Particularly because that is the German bomber I've been advocating.
I'd also mention that it is likely to be a very durable bomber like the Ju88A-4 is and is a great looking bomber.
-
It would be very interesting to see some "Doolittle Style" raids with the Mitchell. I realize, as did the raid planners, that this was a one shot deal, never to be repeated in later operations. And this raid was more symbolic than tactical or practical. But what would you think of a swarm of Mitchell's uppin of a carrier to blast a base with? Some would say easy pickens (sorry sqaudie, no pun intended) others would say slam dunk!

On a different note how would ya like to have this rainin hellfire and brimstone down on ya head?
http://www.douglasdc3.com/spooky/spooky.htm
I know, don't tell me ! It's a Viet Nam Era platform, and not suited for AH2.

Intresting "Doolittle" feature we had back in WB 2.77...
During the TOD Rolling plane set...B25C was avail for 2 days off carriers, though it wasnt ez to take off

"though it wasnt ez to take off" As the link denotes, the "Doolittle Raiders" were stripped down B-models. And I don't remember the exact quote or who said it, but I heard that one "Raider" had said "You couldn't squeze a B-B through my pucker (he used a different word, but you get the idea) when we took off from the Hornet ".
As far as WB, never played it. Outside of AH2 the only warbird type sims I have played were Aces over Europe and Aces of the Pacific both from Dynamix (which no matter how much I've tried, windowsXP wont allow me to play those two).
