Title: Green Day's latest Album Title!
Post by: Tinpot on November 03, 2004, 06:12:04 PM
Glad I'm not one but a bit worried that there is one in high office now!

Interesting to note that most of the rest of the world seems rather unhappy about it.

" Don't want to be an American Idiot
Don't want a nation under the new mania
Can You here the sound of hysteria
The subliminal mindf**k america
Welcome to the new King of tension
All across the Alienation
where everything isn't meant to be ok
Television dreams of tomorrow
were not the ones meant to follow
for thats enough to argue
Maybe I'm the f*****America
I'm not a part of the red neck agenda
Now everybody do the propaganda
and sing along to the age of Paranoia
Don't want to be an American Idiot
One nation controlled by the media
Information age of hysteria
Calling out to idiot America."

Green Day said it best!

But then I'm not one Phew

Is it a coincedence this song was very high in the Euro top 20 the other week?

Yup it's a catchy little' bubble gum pop song.  Can't believe people consider Green Day punk.  They are about as top 40 as Brit. Spears.

Good tune tho'

A superficial, artlessly-executed song by a band well past its prime.

They need to bite the bullet and start writing jingles for Volvo commercials.

This one, is lost out at Sea and Delusional to boot, must be mental disorder caused by dehydration, or pure jealousy.

Not liking this song=craziness?

I didn't realize that faith in Greenday's brilliance was a universal constant. Must have missed the memo.

As for jealousy, I think I'll reserve mine for those with enduring talent, not just an enduring fan-base. I used to be one of them, actually, years ago. Now I think they're tired and silly. With this song at least, they certainly seem to be riding the wave of popular sentiments generally held by the demographic to which they've historically appealed. Given some thought, they may have been able to make it sound good. Instead they just took a bunch of cliches and duct-taped them together with some distorted guitar.

Dehydration can cause hallucinations, which are temporary in nature because prolonged dehydration will inevitably lead to death.  Mental disorders are either lengthy or permanent deviations from established norms--generally inborn or products of altered body chemistry. Pills can aid stability in certain cases, but they can also worsten the situation.

Let me know if you want a lesson in the proper use of capital letters.

Not sure what to even say about this bit of insight. Wow, thanks, really it so refreshing to meet a condescending euro these days. You really need to put some patronizing verbage in there as well.

And you wonder why we ignore you.

Agree with WMlute on this -

Punk ain't gonna be found anywhere near Greenday or the whole lot of their peers in the genre.

I've seen more punk come outta the underground americana scene.....

poor poor tinpot! is that a tear I see? holed up in his room with a green day cd on his euro puny player and looking at old vhs speeches by michelle moore on his 19" taxed to the hilt TV.

Clutching his cricket paddle thing while hiding under the bed in case a burglar comes.

hey! I bet I could write song lyrics too!

boyh them world leaders are two faced.  They are all praising Bush right now... listening to them you would think they loved us....  good thing we have tinpot to set the "record" straight eh?

Just did and its bloody goodthough my Deutch is a little shakey.

I note that " Amerika is Wumderbar " is irony.

Have you heard New Model Army's 51state.

Heres the Lyrics

51ST STATE
(Cartwright/NMA) 1979/85

Look out of your windows, watch the skies
Read all the instructions with bright blue eyes
We're W.A.S.Ps, proud American sons
We know how to clean our teeth and how to strip down a gun

We're the 51st state of America

Our star-spangled Union Jack flutters so proud
Over the dancing heads of the merry patriotic crowd
Tip your hat to the Yankee conqueror
We've got no reds under the bed with guns under our pillows

We're the 51st state of America

Here in the land of opportunity, watch us revel in our liberty
You can say what you like but it doesn't change anything
Because the corridors of power are an ocean away

We're the 51st state of America

Published by Attack Attack Music/Warner Chappell Music Ltd

More true of our nation now than ever I think! Sad realy but hey .

It's a song about how american culture permeates european society to a high degree. "we're all living in america"

If one doesn't like american cultural influence in his country, who's to blame? His countrymen, or americans ?

Nothing wrong with that.

Why do I need to learn to use a gun?

I'm not in, or intending to Join the Army and I can't remember the last time I even saw one other than in a museum or on TV.

People do get shot here sadly but usualy its criminals shooting other criminals. Innocent people get hit in the crossfire!

Either way we haven't exactly got a gun problem here. Just a few incedents in the citys hyped up by the press.

Nice Country overall You should try it.

Greenday should have left it alone after the quality album 'Dookie'

now that was good teeny-bopper seudo-punk!

As far as I see now, they are morons.

Cant they see that the USA is actually alot more down to earth and 'Free' than many opther idiotic governments.

Sure USA gets alot of stick from the 'war', but only because they are the 'big boy' on the block.

Everyone is jealous, and it shows. Its very sad.

And i am brittish.

That being said, having such a large population, America also has a huge amount of 'american idiots'.

All countries have their sheep and those who carry themselves along in a moronic fashion. the ratio of said idiots is roughly equal the world over unfortunately.

Natural selection is dead, Evolution is halted, or possibly just altered.

The human race is over and we all lost.

better start a new one soon, or we will go the same way as so many exstinct creatures.

one thing i like bout green day is that they're consistant. the cds they release dont tend to have that filler crap like some bands do.. i can listen to their stuff all the way through and even sometimes leave it in to start from track 1. still do that with dookie all the time

they're awesome in concert, too!

Strange. Same thing here, including favourite tracks. Even before digging into lyrics, you know, it's hard for me to understand English lyrics orally. I think I understand only the Beatles completely, but it's mostly because I learned all their songs by heart 15-20 years ago...

It's interesting to listen to Green Day's "conceptual album", after their cynic short songs from Dookie and other records.
