The top 10 universities in the World University Rankings are:
1 Harvard University US
2 California University Berkeley US
3 Massachusetts Institute of Technology US
4 California Institute of Technology US
5 Oxford University UK
6 Cambridge University UK
7 Stanford University US
8 Yale University US
9 Princeton University US
10 ETH Zurich Switzerland
Things I noticed.....
Bush has degrees from two of them.
Canada, France, and Norway did not make the top 10 list.
Austrailia dominates Asia
The top 200 universities are to be found in 29 countries, with the United States, the UK, Germany and Australia leading.
The US has more than the other four combined.

source ?
FYI the top "universities" in France are not university ...

odd. my univ. was ranked 28th. a bit surprised by a few in the top 20.
http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/ranking.htm for straffo. here is a list.
was looking at the top 100 euro. on the list. Straffo help me here. My sister attended the Univ. o' Paris at the Sorbonne. WHICH one is that on the list? They have them listed as Univ Paris 06 or Univ Paris 11. How can I tell which one?
-
Kind of a bogus ranking system. It doesn't even list the smaller universities in the USA really, which frankly besides the Ivy League are by far the best ones. Ohio State? lmao what a bad school.
-
Sorbonne is none of P06 or P11 it's Paris 1 ;)
IMO the ranking is a bit controvertial ... and not covering the whole spectrum of studies possible.
For example I've seen no university specialized in literature ranked

Top four are blue states, imagine that

UF at 67?
They put the University of Florida at 67?! That's an outrage! Just because our football team is in the crapper is no reason to rank us below those California schools!

Wisconsin is 18 and deservedly so.

All of those US schools except Berkely and MIT aren't as good anymore and I'm surprised they are even up there.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH hahahahahahahahaha
I'd forgotten all about that.
Anyhow, the methodolgy seems to favor big schools. Which really isn't a very good idea. They should have taken all of the numbers as a ratio of total students, not just the "size" column.

The true value of a diploma for most people is how nice it looks hanging on the wall or in a resume, which means that a recognizable name like Ohio State is indeed "better" than some good-but-unheard of local university.

I was thinking of good but unheard of Universities like Georgetown and George Washington.

Surprising those wouldn't have made the list if they didn't (I didn't bother to read the list due to the inherent pointlessness of such lists). Both are well-respected universities.

They are on there, Ranked 210 (GW) and 211 (Georgetown).
Whereas the degree mill which awarded me my B.A. was ranked 121 (UC Riverside).
That just doesn't seem right at all.
