Jaws
Poltergeist
Aracnaphobia
That's just based on the ability for horror movies to stick with me. If I see the ocean, I think "sharks" simply because of the movie jaws. If I see static on a TV, I think of "poltergeist" (which was voted to have the scariest villain ever). If I see a house spider, I automatically decide if its similar to the ones I saw in aracnaphobia. Hollywood has fallen into the trap of scary meaning "startling". You don't realize just how scary a movie is until 10-20 years later.

The Shining
Evil Dead 2
Army of Darkness
-
The 3...err 4 movies that really made me feel uncomfortable were:
Blair Witch Project
The Ring
Ex-aequo: The Exorcist and The Shining
-
Air Warriors
War Birds
Aces High
Wait.....what was the question again?
:D

Evil Dead 1 is good .. as well as "within the woods"
I like 'space horror' flicks alot
like Event Horizion
or Alien (alien 4 was good too)
Pitch Black was good too... (never saw that new 'riddick' movie .. but doesn't look to be in the Genre anyway)
Space Horror's are the best IMHO
I just hate it when the robots kill eveyone or whatever
2001 is a good classic though .....
-
The Saw, new one, very very good
-
Salems Lot.
-
Event Horizon was good...it was made better as I went to the theater thinking it was just some sorty of sci-fi space movie, and had no idea it was a horror flick. What a nice suprise!

Showgirls
Bridges of madison county
chocolate

Flicks that scared me:
The Ring
Event Horizon
The Shining
-
Except for Gunslingers choises I have seen them all and I can also agree with most that they are good :)
-
The Hitchcock classic 'Psycho' is the all time number 1 horror movie. The monster looked just like Anthony Perkins and could have been that guy next to you in line at the supermarket.
Alien needs to be there, as does Jaws. Jaws had people in Kansas scared to swim in the river.
-
My top four would have to be:
THE EXORCIST
DAWN OF THE DEAD (what was my mom thinking letting me watch that??? LOL!)
THE HAUNTING -1966 black & white (Saw this one as a kid too, no special effects, but the atmosphere was great!)
BLAIR WITCH (reminded me too much of the crap me and my stupid friends used to do)
Some others good ones:
The Cell (not too scary, but good nonetheless)
Pet Cemetary
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
