How soon before the editor is updated to include these?

The editor does not need to be updated for this.  If you keep AH updated, the editor uses the same resource libraries and the new objects become available immediately after the update to AH.

However, you will need to wait for a Terrain editor update to setup the object/field defaults for new items added.  The easiest way to handle this, is to setup the fields/objects in the game arena and save them.

Well NUTTZ, I just followed the bread crumb trail and ended up here.  Go figure.
