Title: Maximum LCD monitor response which permits decent gameplay
Post by: AKcurly on November 05, 2004, 04:42:43 AM
I noticed BenQ has a 8 ms flat panel lcd monitor.  While this should be more than adequate for game play (no ghosting), is there an upper limit I need to be aware of?  Stay below 18ms?

Skuzzy, you have an opinion?

I have a 16 ms LCD display and it is completely playable. I'd say anything below 20 ms should be just fine.

At 20ms there is still significant smearing for high speed objects on the screen.  16ms would be the upper limit.  12ms, and below, would probably be fine and be difficult to differentiate from a CRT, in all but extreme cases.

I use a 21" Dell 2001FP (16ms) and I dont notice the ghosting unless its a fast game and I'm actually looking for the ghosting instead of playing the game.

Some people are more sensitive to it than others. I suggest you try out any new monitor before you buy it.
