How would you describe your relationship with humanity?
Without bothering to lay out the ground work, do you feel that you exist within it? Alongside it? Or in spite of it?
I aint talking about your pals. Your wife. Your boss. I am talking about the people that you will never meet.
Their happiness is not yours. Their sadness is also not yours. Whatever their circumstance, it will not touch you.
Are they a factor?

Anyone that ever tells you that they are at peace with their fellow man and wish them well, they have never driven in traffic for a day with the *******s in Virginia, DC and Maryland.

The short answer is I believe I relate to people I haven't met in the same way as I relate to rest of the universe. Mostly a hope it has a purpose and that we've grown a brain stem out of design. I hope inteligence was not a fluke and is not finite. If it is , nothing really matters.

I remember hearing this kind of thing at church when i was a kid...the folks who attended regularily would act holier than thou....yet would be the first, on any other given day, to give you the finger for taking their parking spot.

The total purpose of my job is to keep pepole I have never met and will likely not meet, alive..... My center is responsable for 300-450 commercial AC at any given minute.
My connection to them... they put food on my kids table.

most days I wouldn't say I'm connected with the rest of the population (outside of friends and family that I choose to let into my life, of course). shackled to them would describe it better.
on a good day I can be completely disconnected from the herd. it really helps my overall outlook when I can achieve it. the situations that would normally piss me off are a whole lot more amusing if you just don't picture yourself as involved and just look at it as comedy routine set up for your amusement.
on a really bad day I feel like I'm packed into a herd of lemmings, and am just tall enough to see over the crowd to the cliff that the others can't or won't see. my day then consists of a completely futile effort to convince them they are going the wrong way, while the crowd drags me along with them to the drop.
luckily that particular type of bad day doesn't come around too often. actually I don't think I had one since Tuesday or so.

I get along with most everyone. I think a lot of peoples life experiances (or lack there of) shapes em. I trust most of humanity to be decent but realize that there are some that can't be redemed. I recognize that we are powered by our ambitions and weakness as much as by what we believe is good.
I realize that some see good where none exists and others see evil where none exists.
I believe we all have basic human rights and try not to step on anyones and....fight like hell when others try to step on mine.
this is a simple thing really but something few people do... most are into control with the excuse of "for their own good" or... "they are tooo dumb to have rights". I have on occassion been tempted to say that "they are too educated to deserve rights"
guess i should say that whenever I start feeling like the captn abopve... I dump whatever it is that is making me feel that way... woman, job... city.
