Didn't B24Js have the nose gear doors that retreact inward?
Did they change to outward doors in the b24G / H?
The early one had the de icer boots, but later didn't they go to a ducted air sytem which fed hot air from the eninge through pipes that heated the leading edge?

J's doors still open outward; at least the ones on the All American/Dragon and His Tail open that way.

24's retracted their ball turret, 17's did not.

SUPREFLY has already commented about the retractable ball turret...He tried to solve it, but he encountered a technical difficulty.

All J models. "Chute the Works" is a B-24J-155-CO, Lakanooki is a B-24J-25-CO I think. Im not sure about the others.

it changes the fwd langinf grea to make uo for the extre pounds from the new nose turret

B-24 had a retscatble ball turet, unlike the B-17s that had a fixed ball turret. The prathacable ball wac for aorobynamics, and got a higher speed om the way home

That and dragging the ball turret on the runway when they landed didn't make a lot of sense :)

Depends on the model. Convair-built Juliets had the nose door retract inward until they switched to the J-70-CF model, when they were switched to outward doors. North American-built Juliets all used outward doors, while the Consolidated-built AC usually had outward doors with a few exceptions.
On checking the serial number against Baugher's records, I discovered an art bug: no such number exists. 42-521699 is one digit longer than any typical serial number. The closest one (42-52169) was not a J, but a Ford-built B-24H-10-FO lost over Brunswick on 8 May 1944. Records of the 453rd Bomb Group support this. Either the B-24 designation is wrong (should be H instead of J) or the serial number and nose art are off. Ford-built B-24s all had outward opening nose doors, just so ya know.
