Title: dawn of the dead..
Post by: lazs2 on November 09, 2004, 08:59:15 AM
Got the "directors cut"... it does have some cool extra features.  I didn't really see where it was different than the original tho.

I was kinda put off when the guy tossed a gym bag full of guns and ammo to another guy..  the size of that bag.... would probly be about 125 lbs.

extra footage at the gun store was kinda neat.

The newscaster bit was pretty hokey but I enjoyed it anyhow. The Andy scenes were better.

These zombies moved faster than past zombies did... maybe these were American zombies and the others were Euro zombies, and since the Euros don't have guns their zombies never had to run real fast to avoid being shot.

It's one of the few remakes I've seen that's improved on the original...  I especially loved the little "down with the sickness" and celebrity shoot off scenes

I have arranged my firearms to take into account stage 1 through 3 zombies...  the stage 3 zombies are much slower  handgun tpe zombies but the stage 1 zombies really need some shotgun double ought action.

I liked the training film with the cops letting from one to 3 zombies loose and using em for training shots.

the actors in that one used some pretty good gun handling techniques too.   They knwe their weapons and used good tactics.

Most of the zombies around here are only out very late at night or early in the afternoon.

You should have picked up the unrated version. If you purpchase it at Best Buy it comes with an extra disc with even more extras.

They just released news that a Dawn of the Dead 2 is official....
part 2 to the remake.

And due to the popularity of the remake. George Romero has been given a contract finally to make his forth and final Dead movie.. "Twilight of the Dead".  in which he vowed less than 5% CGI if any. Which is a good thing... back to old school makeup and gore.

Is part 2 going to be a remake of "Day" or continuation of "Dawn"?

Should be interesting to see what Romero comes up with.

I've got the original on DVD, but it's a flipper. Only one in my whole collection. I may buy the new version. Rented it and liked it.
