How many think that Canada will join the coelition of the willing?
If so in what regard?
-
Not a chance.
The guy won't even let us be proper capitalists and sell trees and cows to the folks down south who want to buy it, yet he wants us to go sniffing around for WMD somewhere? Not a chance in hell.
-
'sides... Canada is in Afghanistan where it's at least real.
-
I bet Canada joins...
-
Be quiet and do what you're told.;)
-
Don't make us come up there!
-
We produce more oil than we consume, no need to get Canadians killed over silly American Foreign policies, Afganistan is bad enough.
I have no problem with people who have Lazatudes but by all means let them send their sons and daughters over to guard the wells.
-
I doubt it Pongo, the war just seems too unpopular here. Add to that our government being a minority and I doubt it even more, although, the Conservatives would probably support it. The Bloc and NDP would want no part of it, and I'd say a good majority of the population would voice their apprehension. Too big a decision for this government to make. Thats the read I make. What do you think?

"90% of Canada's population is within 50 miles of our border. Can't you see they are massing for a strike?!"
Canadian Beer Sucks!!!!!

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade
There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw

Heh, that's the secret code... much like shining the batman logo up on the clouds, for calling creamo in.

Sounds like something off of a Benny Hinn thank-you card.

So how is the People's Republic of Canada these days ;)
-
sheesh... I thought they were all just huddling together for warmth and to get closer to the cheap gas and ciggs.... massing for an attack?

Capitalism in Canada? Don't make me laugh Nash. Your Gov't. subsidizes your timber industry, then you dump timber on the American market, costing us not only jobs, but our timber industry.
You also do the same thing with paper- our biggest competitor (check printing and other security printing) is a Canadian firm that gets its raw materials at a super discounted rate from the Canadian Gov't, and offers finished product for less than we can buy the raw materials, so don't tell ME about "fairness" and "capitalism."
Quite frankly you Canadians get a break because you're white and speak English. If you were brown and spoke Spanish we'd have a ten foot fence on our border and you'd be sneaking in to pick our vegetables for pennies.
I've always believed the greatest threat to America's borders comes not from the South, but from the North.
-
Look at the fear.
I mean really. You gotta have a pretty small dick to be afraid of Canada.
Your silly allegations on soft wood lumber have been disproven in court repeatedly..The US just ignores the rulings. There is somthing about us being efficient at harvesting our massive wood reserves that is just beyond americans. They can accept somewhow that Saudis can harvest oil more effeiceintly the Texans can..but they just cannot accept that Canadians can harvest logs more efficiently then Americans.

airhead... I honestly would rather give citizenships to the mexians I have seen here than the canadians I have dealt with here. The ones I have seen are shady socialists at best.

Exactly, Lazs- look at the number of Canadians who speak French compared to the number of Mexicans who speak French. BY FAR Canada is more Socialist than Mexico.

It's not just that airhead... mexicans don't say "aboot" when they mean "about".

Socialist, subsidizing domestic lumber producers by restricting legitimate competition in the marketplace. That runs sorta contrary to the interests of consumers and the national economy. Artificially capping Canada’s duty-free share of the U.S. market and then charging prohibitive tariffs will limit lumber supplies and raise the cost of this vital building material, It is essentially a hidden tax on American home buyers.
It raises the cost of the average American home by about $4000-$7000, thus shutting out aproxx 200,000 Americans from having the opportunity to purchase a new home.
What will create more jobs in the big picture, a new subdivsion or an old mill employing a handfull of people Airhead.
I don't think you'd want to giveup the good deal with all that cheap labour from the Mexicans, who else with the influx of cheap timber would build all those new houses and mow the lawns.
Seems Air, that you and your sidekick, are libreals in sheep's lingerie.

BS Torque, Canada keeps crying about a "level playing field" but Canadian timber companies don't have to jump through the hoops American timber companies have to jump through to harvest timber. Sheeesh, my parents own harvestable timber and it'll cost twenty grand (in American dollars, not that cheap Canadian monopoly looking crap that's worthless) for the proper permits (a harvest plan) to harvest LESS than ten acres. Those sanctions on your timber products are designed to level the playing field, not circumvent it.
As far as your attitude that the lumber industry is expendable at the advancement of "consumer interests," isn't that what Taiwan said about the ship bulding industry, Japan said about the steel industry, Indonesia said about the textile industry, and on and on and on? What will be left for my children to do? What will be left for America?
We have long been the fat sow allowing other Nations to nurse at our teats, but we have wars to fight and we're getting skinny now so we can no longer afford to allow ANY other Nation, even Canada, to take advantage of our generosity and good nature.
Let go of America's teat, Torque, and find your own marketplace. Sell your cheap bellybutton wood in Europe.

Let me guess your mom wrote you another email, regarding her dire straits, right?
Just because you've mismanaged your lumber resources lets not whine about the hardship of your parents, We'll help as much as we can and offer them weekend drug and flu shot junkets to make ends meet.
The ITC has been repeatedly given opportunities to prove that the threat allegations exist, each time it was proven to be baseless and contrary to law, heck where have i heard that before. It would seem you're a closet socialist when it comes to your parent's needs
It's not my attitude that the lumber industry is expendable but rather the National Home Builders Association of America. Write them a letter, get your mom to help you.
American would do well to slim down, have you seen the recent stats on obesity...
Hey if the average American home buyer wants to suckle from the generous Canadian lumber teat, let them suckle, why get all socialist now.
-
Your whole argment has been debunked in the courts, repeatedly. Its just socialism. Take money from the producers and give it to those who dont want to produce.
You have no idea what kind of paper work is needed in Canada to harvest lumber.
You are just whining. The US is just breaking a treaty that they instigated to their benifit.
The really really really funy part.
Is the companies that are hurting the US so bad..stabing you in the back. Taking food from your babies mouths..are moslty american companies. Are you saying that they are socialist american companies?
If the US cant cut down trees for the price that we can maybe we should just up the price to what the US producers can meet. Our sales will decrease. Yours will increase our lumber will still be in the forest and worth even more when you totaly run out. Then you will whine that you cant build houses cause Canadians are price gouging you on the lumber that you must buy from us..
Oh but wait..we cant. Cause we would have to charge Canadians that inflated price. And that is against NAFTA!(which you are ignoring) what a riot. So lazy US loggers that would rather litigate then work get payments from Canadian producers..what is wrong with your country? Bet those lazy loggers are in Red states..lol
You americans have to learn how to work more and whine less.
grow up and realize, You have less lumber lands left..so they are worth more. Asking canadians to value wood as highly as Americans is just assinine. Look at a map of BC..its all lumber. Lots of it has been logged but we have been activly replanting since WW2. It grows back.

A clue for you since you're special:
Key phrase: We have long been the fat sow allowing other Nations to nurse at our teats, but we have wars to fight and we're getting skinny now so we can no longer afford to allow ANY other Nation, even Canada, to take advantage of our generosity and good nature. [/b]
Nash, you're standing there looking rather silly with that hook in your mouth, or is that a piercing?

Hmm... that was a troll? He sounded sincere to me.... Mebbe I'm wrong.

Its airhead. Even I belive him every once in a while, for a second, butb then I remember that he is airhead. How he does it is amazing.

Just that he used so much detail:
"...harvestable timber and it'll cost twenty grand (in American dollars, not that cheap Canadian monopoly looking crap that's worthless) for the proper permits (a harvest plan) to harvest LESS than ten acres."
For a troll?
Struck me that he understands the issues and details, and that it was more than just takin' a cheap shot at Canada for trolling purposes. My bet is that it was some combination of the two, maybe.
Who knows... he is good, I'll grant him that.

Its known as the "BBS Sybil Effect". Pretend to act out what you believe the opposite political opponent is thinking. Its like chumming a shark up to the boat, then pulling a .45 auto and nailing it right though the head.
