One of the odd things about Aces High that strikes me from session to session is the way the mortality of gunners is handled. They can kill you but you really can’t kill them.
Field and ship gunners are very famous, they blast the heck out of you then get to “land” their kills after you finally get em.
Likewise with the tank commander’s gun. This has become an uber air defense weapon with an immortal gunner. Probably not very historical, as this gun was not an air defense weapon in the first place. The gun can eventually be disabled but only as a result of damaging the turret. The gun itself, and especially the gunner, are not separate damage items. They should be.
In short no gunner should be immortal. If you die in a gunner position you should get (and give) a death just like anywhere else in the game. In multi crewed vehicles/aircraft – you get hit you die and go back to the pilot/drivers position where you can either then man another gun or run away at your discretion. But immortal gunners should become a thing of AH’s past – they never were a part of anyone elses.

Simple. Agreed. Gunners should be kilt. do you get a score for their kill? More people might try to kill ack if you do too. Looks like a win win. Good Call!

That's one of my favorite parts of IL2 -- killing a bomber's gunner and then closing to rediculously close range and ripping the plane to shreds. I wish it was easier to do in AH.

well gunners do get disabled in Bombers but it should be much more easy to kill a gunner then it is now
on a bomber

The pintle gun on the M8 is seperately damageable, usually all you have to do is fly over one and they'll at least lose that. Sometimes if you fly real low, you'll kick up enough rocks and dust to knock out the turret or destroy it outright.
