What would the MA be like if, for just 24 hours, combat didnt "count" on the HTC score pages? I can only think good results.
:aok For most in the MA, FLYING STYLES WOULD CHANGE. People who normally protect their skins to a fault would be more aggressive, and maybe learn something new.
:aok People would try new rides, or use them in new situations
:aok It would break the monotony for the jaded vets looking for a fight
:aok Even the score wh@res would have a chance to chill and have a bit of fun for a change.
To keep play balanced, Perks would still have to count. But, the driving need to avoid that death or grab the milk run would be gone. I suppose some lost souls would still fly that way, but they'd be sad, confused, and hopefully alone. We could use the MOD to build up enthusiasm for a week or so, and to warn the scorers what was coming.
HTC, you've tried other experiments in the past -- why not this one? To be honest, I cant see a down side.

What are the Score Pages HAHAHA
-
Wouldn't do a thing, in my opinion.
-
it would help with the milk runs to padd scores and Kill to death people never fighting because they fear a bad stat number
but i think it would have to be much longer then 1 day for anybody to realy care
like a full tour without it i would like to see

I don't think it would matter because if you're trying to fight smart, you are always trying to save your skin. Thats how its supposed to be done.
There are always plenty of folks on both sides looking for a furball without regard to score... I know, they are the ones that ram me.
Otherwise, we do have a DA ya know... No score, pure brawl.
If you shut off scoring, you're just going to have a frag game. This is supposed to be more than QuakeHigh.
What is that stupid Microsoft Free online flight game? Aces? or Combat Aces? something like that... If thats what you want, the product already exists.. But AcesHighII isn't it.

I guess my point didnt really come through. I'm not talking about a permanent change, and truth is those guys who like to chase scores have every right to their style of play.
BUT many guys wont stretch themselves because they're using the score and KPD to measure their progress in what is admittedly a very difficult game. I know I've looked at things that way in the past, and I think many flight behaviors follow from the score page.
What keeps people form trying a Hurricane or a early plane -- they dont want to die. If for just a day they could decide that they didnt care about dying, that whole attitude woudl produce different play dynamics.
The DA isnt at all what I'm talking about, because the one on one (often ego driven) environment is far from the "what the heck, give it a shot" feel that many far too serious players lack.
Nothing could make this game "Air Quake." The realism alone prevents that; I could go on, but thats off topic.
And, Kurt, you seem to be arguing both sides in contradiction -- "plenty of folks....furball without regard to score" but "if you shut off scoring you'll just have a frag game." You seem to be saying we already have a frag game???

Kudos on your choice of signature there Sim... :aok
Nah, I'm not arguing both sides today (although I am quite skilled at that).
I'm just saying that there are plenty of people who do play just to tangle hard.. And there are lots who are more conservative... Theres all sorts of players.
I fly my score a little. But I don't have really outrageous goals... I like a KTD of 1.5 or better, I like a hit% over 6.. Thats about all I try to do.
I fly lots of birds and rarely fly the real high performance late war planes. Mostly because I like the perks on the old ones, and I am never impacted by the team balancing.
I agree that people should be diverse in their plane selections.. Flying one bird or only birds with certain characteristics makes you weaker overall.
And you can check my stats to back up what I fly... 109F4, 190-A5 and A8s...
Ususally if I'm in a fast plane or a late war plane its because the squad is doing something in that plane, or because I've been getting my back-side violated and I'm ticked off and ready for some payback..
And if you fly the older birds, when you step into a spit 9 or an LA7 they feel effortless by comparison.

"Nah, I'm not arguing both sides today (although I am quite skilled at that). "
LIAR! that post is in direct contrast with your previous post.
-
wouldnt be a bad idea maybe, but certainly wouldnt affect my flying :D
-
every day is a NO SCORE FRIDAY. :D
-
It's all between the ears
:)

I already fly a Hurricane most of the time and usually do pretty well in it. Only stat I really work on is my gunnery score and at times I get so involved in trying to improve that number that I actually get worse :D
