Why not? Nothing to freeze up.
They were still made in Mexico until 1999 or so. Seems they'd have a bit more of an issue with air cooling anyone.

I was driving my volkswagen van around in -37 degree weather without a problem... other than it being absolutely painful.
-
Ahh the VW bug.
Probably the best built, most reliable car in the world ever built bar none.
Simply couldnt kill those things.
And if memory serves correct.
they even floated in water

Just put BBQ sauce on it. He'll eat anything with BBQ sauce. Our Eunic squaddie Gordo learned that the hard way.
-
Served Gordo right for putting BBQ sauce on his privates.
-
Nothing wrong with putting BBQ sauce on your privates, just don't do around Funked is all. I hope to still be putting BBQ sauce on my privates far into the twilight years of my life.

Nash, ever try Ben Gay? Once may be enough :D
...not that I ever tried it of course.

I thought it was hot links and hush puppies.
Sorry about the nullo Gayrdho.

What's the best mileage ever reached by a Bug?
I've just read that a Mercedes has been donated to a museum by a greek taxi driver with 4.6 million klicks (!) behind the wheels. He bought it in 1981 (it had already 220,000 kms at this time) and used it until now... WTG on the maintenance!

It floats.
The way our body is built, we'd be surprised if it didn't. The sheet of flat steel that goes underneath every Volkswagen keeps out water, as well as dirt and salt and other nasty things that can eat away at the underside of a car. So it's watertight at the bottom. And everybody knows it's easier to shut the door on a Volkswagen after you've rolled down the window a little.
That proves it's practically airtight on top. If it was a boat, we could call it the Water Bug. But it's not a boat, it's a car.
And, like Mary Jo Kopechne, it's only 99 and 44/100 percent pure. So it won't stay afloat forever. Just long enough. Poor Teddy. If he'd been smart enough to buy a Volkswagen, he never would have gotten into hot water.
VW advertized the watertightness of the beetle. The picture is an actual VW ad, the text is the fake text from the Lampoon parody.
During the photography session, this Beetle floated for 42 minutes. Best copy from actual ad: "...keep in mind... even if it could definitely float, it couldn't float indefinitely. So drive around the big puddles. Especially if they're big enough to have a name."

They were cute and fund?

BUG! That looks like a 1303 - curved windscreen, elongated bonnet/hood. Is that rust near the bottom of the door, or a reflection of something on the ground?
-
Yeah that's my wrong restaurated drivers door.
It sukked from the beginning it was to long .
no money for it now

Saw a Bug in Mexico had to be 20 years old, the gas cap? The gas cap was a Cheez Whiz lid.

Woha... I've got goose bumps here... I was in Mexico once, and this VW stopped and these two Mexicans jumped out of the Bug with guns. I thought I was dead, but all they did was take the cap off my Cheeze Whiz and leave.
Now I understand. Thanks, Karaya.
